The space
**COVID-19 Response:
I would like to inform all guests that I have stepped up my cleaning process and will be utilizing Lysol disinfectant to disinfect and clean all surfaces and Febreeze fabric refresher to eliminate viruses and Clorox disinfecting wipes to sanitize as well. All of this is in addition to changing bedding, kitchen towels and mopping floors.

The cottage is a perfect spot to get away and is only a one-hour drive from Winnipeg. The living space is open concept and features a 1080p 55-inch 3D TV, Blu-ray/DVD player with some movies to choose from. There is a 4-piece bathroom, which includes a two person jetted tub and a separate shower. A good-sized functional kitchen where the tap water is drinkable and the dining room table that seats 6 and an additional kitchen table for 4. The cabin comes fully equipped with linens (except for bath/beach towels), cookware, dinnerware and complimentary coffee (food/meals are not provided). Guests will enjoy the comfort of the newly installed ductless air conditioning/heating unit. The cabin features a large wrap around deck and two patio sets. A beautiful outdoor firepit area and access to the BBQ (propane provided).

If you wish to bring your own fire wood (or purchase locally) to use the wood stove, you must inform me ahead of time. I must reinforce safety because it has a high efficiency mode that must be used properly. Details at the bottom below.

Included:
- Free ice cream (in 2nd fridge freezer) w/ cones and chocolate chips, chocolate/caramel sauce (in 2nd fridge)
- Free Tim Hortons coffee in cupboard
- *** First Aid kit & tick tweezers ***
- 1 Large fire extinguisher in the pantry above the hot water tank. Do not hesitate to use even for a tiny fire.
- 1 Small fire extinguisher on the shed nearest the fire pit.
- I am no longer providing fire wood for firepit area, guests are responsible for bringing/buying their own wood.
- Blackout curtains
- Typical kitchen things like can opener, wine corkscrew and stoppers, pizza cutter, plastic cups, mugs, plates, cutlery, cheese grater, microwave, tea kettle (in cupboard), toaster, two coffee pots, plastic wrap, tin foil and many more common kitchen items.
- 55" 3D TV - plays normal BluRay/DVD or convert them to 3D. A handful of native 3D movies like Prometheus. 10 3D glasses, the 6 LG glasses are the most comfortable.
- BBQ and propane (1 BBQ burner only lights with long lighter (several long lighters between kitchen and guest shed)).
- Pack and play toddler crib reportedly just fits in the queen bedroom (not provided).
- Vacuum in hall closet.
- Cleaning supplies under kitchen sink including pet carpet spray.
- Guest Shed access for badminton, balls, baseball bat/gloves, frisbee, football and fire pit supplies (paper/lighter/hot dog sticks). Large recycling and garbage bins for during your stay.
- I offer the service of disposing of your garbage and recycling so you don't have to.
- All 3 bdrms have fans.
- Unlimited water and new 75 gallon hot water tank, so use the tub/shower as much as you like. Note the toilet is a gravity toilet and you need to let the foot pedal slam shut to prevent septic smell.
- New larger shower than before.
- Started collecting bicycles - 1 adult bike, 2 youth bikes, 2 children bikes. Will update once I get more adult bikes. I have no helmets yet. Read the framed rules in the cabin to learn how to access the bikes.

Wood stove instructions. This is a high efficiency wood stove that when used properly will utilize up to 85% of the generated heat to heat the cabin instead of allowing heat to escape up the chimmey. On the right side is a handle that when closed, forces the gases released from the fire to follow a special path before going up the chimney. Those gases are burned rather than released into the atmosphere. You must open that handle before opening the door to feed the fire with wood or else you will release smoke into the cabin. Opening that handle allows the smoke to go straight up the chimney instead of being forced through the special path for combustion.

Guest access
Access to the whole cabin and yard (detached sheds are excluded). 5 minute walk to Charlie Wall Park. 15 minute walk to Hillside Beach. 7 minute drive to Albert Beach and 15 minute drive to Lester Beach. Nearby restaurants include: Hillside Beach Store & Eatery and Le Gouter. Saffies General Store is a 5 minute drive from the cabin. If you’re bringing your offroading vehicle (ATV/dune buggy/dirtbike) with you, take advantage of the endless forest trails this area has to offer.

I timed myself walking average speed from the front door to the closest beach access on Belfast at just over 10 minutes. I walked average speed from front door to the sand off of Lagoon in 16 minutes. Then I walked back up the hill at what I thought was a pretty slow, carefree pace and it took me just under 20 minutes. Both ways I was carrying my 11lb cat and it was 24c. Your times may vary.

The best is to drive or bike to the parking lot on Lagoon. Maps on the fridge. I'm collecting bikes to share; currently have 2 toddler bikes, 2 youth BMX (with pegs so another kid can stand on the back of each), and 1 adult bike.
Read the framed rules at the cabin to learn how to get access to the bikes.

Other things to note
Please treat the cabin as you would your own and make sure it is clean and vacuumed before you depart.
1) I am no longer providing fire wood for firepit area, guests are responsible for bringing/buying their own wood. My personal firewood rack supply is off limits. The best place to buy fire wood locally is Greg's Fresh Produce on Lakeshore Rd just south of Ironwood Point Rd. Also Saffies and Traverse Bay Corner.
2) You must bring your own bath and beach towels.
3) The tap water is “potable” so you can drink it and cook with it.
4) The cabin is pet friendly (I only permit dogs, however my cat has been to the cabin multiple times in case you have allergies).
5) There is no land line, satellite service or Wifi. There is a USB charger in the kitchen so you can keep your phones charged so that you always have a way of contacting emergency services. A list of phone numbers for services is listed on the fridge.
6) There is a cell phone plugged in and charging located in the living room that is off limits - it provides internet (not for guest use) for my smart devices such as the front door deadbolt.
7) There is an outhouse behind the back sheds - you are welcome to use it but you and especially your children must be careful. I accept no liability for any problems with it. Ensure your children understand not to put anything (other than natural waste and TP) or anyone down the hole.
8) The septic tank lid behind the house is accessible but since the hole is large you must ensure your children understand they cannot be allowed to play with that lid. Falling in that hole is dangerous and likely makes for a crappy experience.
9) Ductless AC/Heat instructions. Remote is placed to point at the Ductless unit and acts as the thermostat (as long as you leave it in "Follow Me" mode). Primarily during the summer it is important you leave it on Auto and adjust the temp as you desire. On Auto it will cool during the hot day and heat during the cool night. In the spring/fall/winter (above -15c outside) it usually works best leaving it on heat mode. That way if you decide to lower the temp (when on auto) you don't switch on AC, instead when on heat mode and you lower the temp, it will just allow the house to cool slowly. Any questions, just ask. You shouldn't have trouble keeping the place comfortable simply by adjusting the temp as you desire.
