Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Available is a downstairs one-person bedroom 9 X 11 ft, with double bed, wardrobe, adjacent to the house entrance. Surrounded by woodland.
There is a larger bedroom for two , under separate listing.
Parking close to entrance, Wi-Fi is usually good, and short hiking trails are at your door. There is also a picnic table on the deck. Lovely woods and waterfalls are also within a few minutes walk.
The bathroom, kitchen and decks are shared with any other airbnb guests who might be staying.

The space
The room, because of its size, is strictly for one person, no pets.
The house is in a lovely setting with views over hills and the Adirondack Mountains. Truly a place of peace and tranquility.

Guest access
Guests can access the shared living room, shared bathroom, shared kitchen, rear deck and a picnic table. And the various trails, waterfalls and woodland sitting areas are there for your relaxation and enjoyment. If there is a cabin guest, guests staying in the house cannot access waterfall deck, but can access woodland trails and other falls.
There are security cameras in living room, basement workshop, and decks, but not in areas used exclusively by guests.

During your stay
The host lives upstairs on the premises so is usually available.

Other things to note
Three cautions. There are occasional black bear sightings in the woods but there have been no safety issues with bears. There are precipitous drops on the trails and at the falls, so please be very careful when hiking and around the waterfalls. There are many porcupines in the woods and an occasional bobcat and mountain lion.

Neighborhood highlights

This is a rural location but with lots to do close by, as we are located in the Vermont lake district. Within 3 to 7 km, we have the lakes of Bomoseen, Hortonia and Beebe as well as Half Moon State Park – great for hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and picnicking.
Taconic Rambles State Park and Japanese Garden, with scenic hiking, are only an eight minute drive. Nature Conservancy land is on our door step, including High Pond Trail, Hubbardton Battlefield and Visitor Centre.
Swimming and picnicking is at Hubbardton's Crystal Beach, only five minutes away.
Here is just a small sample of interesting places to visit on a half-day or full day trip:
Silver Lake at Lake Dunmore – a beautiful but quite easy hike up to a clear mountain lake (45 mins drive away). Hike takes about an hour one way, lovely views)
Lake Champlain with boat trip at Fort Ticonderoga (30 mins from house)
Fort Ticonderoga and Ticonderoga ferry at Larrabee’s Point, Shoreham (30 mins drive away). Ferry takes about 10 or 15 mins to NY State. (Check to make sure ferry is running.)
Mt Killington and Appalachian Trail are about 45 mins from house.
Middlebury (30 mins drive from house), has interesting shops, waterfalls and pubs.
Further afield are Texas Falls and Robert Frost Trail in Hancock Vt on Rte 125 (about 1 hour or 40 km). Stowe recreational bike path is about 2 hours or 125 km) from house, and Mt Mansfield and auto road are also about 2 hours away.
