All about Phyllis’s place

Placid Lake - exclusive access to historic Montana camp with a vintage log cabin as its centerpiece. Secluded pristine mountain lake with private dock. Rustic elegance at its best. Breathtaking views of the Swan Mountains, with amenities to make your family’s vacation a once in a lifetime experience. Private boat dock and boat house fully equipped with SUPs, kayaks, a paddle boat and row boat. Bring your own boat or arrange for tours of Placid Lake on the owner’s motorboat. Abundant wildlife

The space
The camp’s main log cabin has a stone fireplace as its centerpiece. This fireplace and the vaulted ceiling in the great room provide the perfect space and ambience for the family to congregate. Nestled in the corner of this room is a conveniently integrated modern kitchen and pantry area. Another corner provides a music area with its own upright piano. There is a single daybed in this main cabin.

Down the hallway is the master bedroom. This room is a vaulted ceiling log cabin and has a large picture window with views of the lake and the mountains in several directions. The master bedroom has two queen beds and a loft with a queen futon.

Directly next door to the main cabin is a tiny cabin we fondly refer to as Lil’ Ruby’s. Part of the original camp, built in 1938, this adorable cabin has some of the same special features of the main cabin. It has a single bed and its own little screened-in front porch with views of the outdoor fire pit and the lake and mountains.

Fall asleep to the sound of the loons and awake to a striking Montana sunrise over the lake from the wrap-around screened-in porch, with a queen bed nested at one end. There is also a small single bed nearby on the porch. Porch beds are equipped with electric blankets so that guests can experience sleeping in the great outdoors while in complete comfort. Some refer to this as glamping. Glamour camping. This spot on the porch is glamping at its best.

The extra large deck is great for watching wildlife. With tables and BBQ you’ll probably eat many meals here. The hot tub is on the edge of the deck. For a change of pace, you can gather around the firepit on the log benches nearby.

Camp Ruby’s provides plenty of opportunities to see wildlife. The water attracts many different species of birds, both migratory and non-migratory. Watch osprey, waterfowl, common loons, bald eagles, great blue herons, and red-necked grebes during your stay. A beautiful pair of swans nest within view of the deck. Depending on the time of year of your visit you may be able to watch the signets with their parents. Deer, beaver and otters are regular visitors to the camp and docks. Other wildlife that may be seen include moose, bear and mountain lions.
