Our lovely 1850s antique farmhouse, with a private, spacious backyard that backs up to the river, is rich with history and charm. With original wide pine floors, plaster walls, a slate roof, and classical lines, you will get a true taste of Vermont's beautiful architecture nestled in a bowl of mountains. Our home is situated in a sweet walking village with a general store with the best beer/wine selections. Escape to the fresh Vermont mountain air where life feels a little bit simpler!

The space
Our lovingly maintained 1850's riverfront farmhouse with a large attached barn is just 15 min from Vermont's best skiing resorts - Stratton, Magic, and Bromley Mountains. Sit and relax on the deck overlooking the Pikes Falls River running through the private backyard. Gather with friends around the fire pit in the backyard or the crackling wood stove inside the cozy barn. Prepare a feast with fresh food purchased from the local farmer's market or general store in the fully equipped kitchen. Dine around the large farm table, and talk and laugh till the wee hours of the night. Enjoy life's simple pleasures in a home with such wonderful history.
On a quiet street just off Main, you will enjoy privacy and quiet time while being mere footsteps away from a general store that has everything you could ever need, including a wide collection of beer and wine, home-cooked style food and desserts, and souvenirs. There is also a hot yoga studio, a library, a town hall, a historical museum, an inn, and a lively farmer's market on Sundays (May through October). Jamaica State Park, also within walking distance from the house, has beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls. Manchester, known for its shopping outlets and wonderful restaurants is just a 20-min drive. The Townshend Dam waterways are perfect for canoeing/kayaking and has white, sandy beaches for swimming and picnicking. There are many area antique shops in which to browse. Brattleboro and Bennington are fun towns for day trips. Come experience the natural beauty of Vermont and surround yourself with meandering rivers and a backdrop of breathtaking mountains.
Our home is children and pet-friendly and sleeps 8. One queen and one double bed downstairs, and four twin beds upstairs. The house is outfitted with all the comforts of home, a wood stove, a little library of DVDs and books, a Roku streaming stick, wifi, art supplies, a record player, and a washer and dryer for your use. The house and linens will be freshly cleaned for your arrival.

Where you’ll be

Jamaica, Vermont, United States

Jamaica is perhaps the sweetest little Vermont village that you could imagine! It has all the character and charm you could ask for. Surrounded by a bowl of mountains, it is populated by humble, hard-working, and creative people. You can walk to every little shop, and the State Park is just footsteps away. You'd be hard-pressed to go for a walk and not meet up with someone else on foot willing to say hello and strike up a conversation with you! That's just how it is in Jamaica.

I am a high school art educator who lives in rural, northern New Jersey. I spent 8 years in Vermont where I attended Bennington College and Vermont College of Norwich University. I met my husband in Vermont too, so it was always our dream to own a second home there. We have many great friends and memories there, and whenever we leave Vermont, we feel it's tug. There’s just something magical about the Green Mountain State and I still feel butterflies when I see the Welcome to Vermont sign. We started out renting our second home over a decade ago when our sons Levi and Vaughn were younger and very involved with school and sports and we had few opportunities to head north as often as we would have liked. I guess you can say we have grown with Airbnb, as we now have 5 vacation rentals in the Jamaica, VT area. Airbnb is so much fun and we love to work with people from across the globe and know that they are enjoying our spaces as well as the Southern VT area. We also cherish the beautiful passages they write (and draw) about their individual experiences in our guestbooks. It always reminds me of how important time spent with friends and family is! Feel free to check out our homes listed on Airbnb as the Historic Parker House, Farmhouse on the River, Majestic Pierce House, Yellow Sweetie at the Base of Stratton, and Potter Place Overlooking the River - all in the Jamaica area - as well as our newest addition closer to home, the Historic Schoolhouse by the Delaware River, a one-room schoolhouse we recently renovated situated in beautiful Montague, NJ. Thank you for considering our homes. Please reach out if you have any questions.
