The bakery is an exceptional architect's house, whose open design is fully designed for brightness. Until 20 years ago, the bakery family of Wewelsfleth lived here, then the owner of the neighbouring Old Ferry House took over the property and realized the dream of a bright "community house". Families and friends will find a beautiful retreat here - just 30 minutes from Hamburg's city limits.

The space
BEDS AND ROOMS
The bakery with its 250 sqm is at your disposal for private use and can accommodate 12 guests in 6 bedrooms. From the south-facing rooms you have a beautiful view over the sturgeon. 4 of the 6 bedrooms are located in our pointed floor, they are each accessible via wooden ladders and therefore suitable for young and young-at-heart people. Some of the rooms have only minimal soundproofing to the neighboring rooms, as they are separated from the bedrooms below, for example, only by simple floorboards.

In the bakery itself there is a full bath on the upper floor and a half bath on the ground floor. A second full bath can be used in the Old Ferry House. For this purpose, you have to scramble over the approx. 5 m wide courtyard, secluded from the street and directly behind the entrance of the staircase on the left is the second full bathroom, which may only be used by the guests of the bakery.

The highlight of our living room on the first floor is the glass floor, which opens onto the 80-square-metre living and dining room below. Through both rooms, light flows from the entire glazed side of the house facing the garden.

In the living room of the ground floor there is a fireplace for which we can also provide firewood as required.

If you need even more space, we offer the apartments "Boven" (19 guests) and "Unnern" (8 guests) in the neighbouring "Alte Fährhaus" and in the Landgasthof Lüders, which is only a 5-minute walk away, up to 5 more rooms can be rented.

GARDEN
The bakery has a small terrace with BBQ and parasols as needed. The terrace is only for you, but does not offer any privacy to the other guests who might be on the property.
The approx. 3000 sqm common garden under the dike slope, directly behind the house, offers children plenty of space. There is also our garden sauna, which can of course be used. Since we also rent out two other accommodations on the property, we are happy to coordinate the usage times with the groups so that there is no overlap.

VILLAGE LIFE
In the cute village of Wewelsfleth, there is a local purchase, a fruit and vegetable stand, a bakery, the Lüders country inn and a Greek bistro within 10 minutes' walk.

SUPS/CANOES/KAYAKS
The accommodation is less than a 5-minute walk from Störr. On request, we can rent up to 10 stand-up paddle boards, 2 canoes and 4 kayaks. Attention: You have to pay attention to the different currents.

THINGS TO DO
The bakery is located directly opposite the small harbour of Wewelsfleth. To enjoy nature, the car can stop: uphill in the river, you can reach the dike crown or the hardly busy small road towards Beidenfleth to a 50 ha bird sanctuary located in a sturgeon, 50 hectare bird sanctuary. Alternatively, start south of the shipyard along the Stör in the direction of the Elbe, past the Störperrwerk to Krey's Deichladen, which lies behind the Elbe dike. From there, we take a small road back to Wewelsfleth.

The interesting little town of Glückstadt, invented by the Danish King Christian IV on the drawing board, is only 10 minutes away by car, and it is no further to Brokdorf, where in summer a heated outdoor pool at the Elbe beach and in winter an ice rink provide fun for young and old.

Here in Glückstadt, you can rent bicycles from the tourist information for 7 EUR a day or 30 EUR per week, with which you can not only explore the dikes excellently. Children's bikes can also be rented there.

If you want to make more circles, you can reach the North Sea at Friedrichskoog in 45 minutes, where you can take mudflat walks and visit the seal rescue station or the huge indoor playground Willi Wal.

In 60-90 minutes you can reach Germany's largest sandbox - St. Peter Ording - or the charming towns of Büsum, Husum, Tönning and Friedrichstadt.

The Elbe ferry Glückstadt-Wischhafen is 10 minutes away by car and takes you to the other side of the Elbe, where Stade with its picturesque city scenery awaits you and a day trip to Cuxhafen is also feasible from there.
