Our Viva La Vida [Viva La Vida] is a small private stay located right in front of Changdeokgung Palace, which opened in June 2020.
The exterior may look a little old and shabby, but the moment you enter, you will experience a small and cozy different world.
In the small yard and garden of the C-shaped house
You can enjoy a quiet tea time, and at night with wine
Looking at the stars in the night sky and listening to the falling rain
You can enjoy our time alone.
In the middle of Seoul, away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis,
I hope you will have the experience of taking a trip to a slightly different world for a while.
The space
Long live the brilliant life! Viva La Vida
'Viva la vida', which is more familiar as a song by Coldplay, is 'long live life!It is also the masterpiece of the painter 'Frida Kahlo' in Spanish, and also the insertion song of the film 'Frida' that highlights her life.
This small and simple space in front of Changdeokgung Palace was named after 'Viva La Vida - Trio Marimberos', one of the OSTs of the film 'Frida', and opened in June 2020.
But uniquely, the Korean sitcom 'Hello Francesca' comes to mind first, rather than the intense life of Frida, like a movie, to that music. Perhaps it was because of the episode where Francesca and her family were scammed and wandered the streets with a used SUV as their home.
In the early spring, the next morning after spending the night in a cold riverside house, they spent an unremarkable morning just like any other family, in contrast to the extraordinary place, reading the newspaper in their pajamas in front of the car, washing their face in a nearby public bathroom, doing the laundry, getting ready for work, and preparing breakfast by catching fish in the river.
The song that was playing slowly at that time was 'Viva La Vida'.
It's like an ordinary day that I spend in an ordinary space, but it's also the appearance of Viva La Vida [Long Live Life] that I dream of, which is like a jewel that shines the most.
Life may seem like a play from a distance, but as you get closer, it may be filled with hardship and tragedy. But if you think about it the other way around, even the daily life that seems to be just hard and difficult is a part of my long and long life, which was not there before and will not be there afterwards, and it will be a brilliant part of my life.
The moment I stay here, I am passing through the most brilliant moment of my life.
So, I hope that every moment will come together and our whole life will be a celebration.

It's a small but really cozy and beautiful traditional Hanok in front of Changdeok Palace.
It's located in the middle of the town near Bukcheon, Gyeongbok Palace and Changdeok Palace, Insadong, and Ikseon-dong, which is around Jongno 3-ga Station.
I really hope you to enjoy the 'Real local trip' in my house!

I worked on this old, worn-out space myself, albeit poorly, but it took a while. When I made it one by one with my hands, there were some inconveniences in using it. Please put as much affection as it is, and thank you in advance for your understanding.
-Viva la vida [Viva la vida] is located in a quiet residential area in a small alley. Since it is a private space, please feel free to use it, but I would be very grateful if you could keep a small etiquette with your neighbors.
-Keeping clean and clean is a basic, but there are some things that look like they are covered in dust due to manual work. There are also some loose parts due to poor work skills. We will continue to improve our skills and make up for them.
-The risk of fire is high because it is an old wooden building. Please refrain from using indoor firearms. Indoors, lighters are provided to burn incense, but please refrain from using them for any other purpose.
-When you open the wooden gate, there is a glass door right away. The inside of the glass door is a space where everyone takes off their shoes.
There are indoor slippers next to the front door, so I would appreciate it if you could use them. ^^
-The plants in the yard are also living creatures, so they are fragile and sensitive. Please treat them with affection, not stepping on them. Also, where there are plants and soil, there may be symbiotic organisms, so please don't hate them too much. (It is a beneficial creature that eats pests.)
-In the center of the living room, a tea ceremony set and green tea by writer Kim Jinwan are prepared. You can enjoy tea ceremony in your own way. For instructions and procedures for the tools, please refer to the accommodation manual provided on the table.
Coffee and dripper that can be hand-dripped in one corner of the kitchen are prepared, and a multi-set of black tea for enjoying afternoon tea is prepared, so please enjoy morning coffee and afternoon black tea in the garden. ^^
-The beam projector is currently damaged and cannot be used. Sorry.
-The works of the artists are small, but they are exhibited throughout the interior. I hope this work will bring you a day full of happiness and emotion. Instead, please enjoy it only with your eyes.
[The works currently on display are 'Pink Moon' by Oh Seung-ah, 'Knot' by Ahn Jaebok, 'space' by Lee U-hyun, and photos of the couple Gwak Min-jeong/Kim Kwang-min.
-Viva La Vida is a structure with a yard in between the main room and the shower room, but it was a big concern that the yard and garden could not be completely indoors due to the restrictions of the building law.
Even if it is not perfectly blocked, it is made into a sufficiently cool and warm indoor space, and in order to use the shower room comfortably, the floor is laid and the roof and window are added to the roof to prevent the flow of outside air and maintain the warm state, thereby enhancing the convenience. Still, the fact that it cannot be completely blocked is still a very big concern and homework.
-When the yard is hot, turn on the air conditioner on the living room side and send cold air to the yard for about 15 minutes to cool it down quickly. Considering that the progressive electricity tariff is applied, we hope that the guest will use it well. If you don't use the mosquito net door, be sure to close the mosquito net door and use it as a lot of mosquitoes enter the room.
-There are many lights and switches, so it may be difficult to find the switch. A separate switch location map is available.
The light illuminating the bottom of the floor turns off when you turn off the power strip switch connected to the iPad. I hope you have a good night.
-Because it is an old house, we clean the boiler pipes every month to manage the water quality, but when using hot water, green water may come out slightly at first. The pipes are old, so even if you clean them, they will come out a little at first, but if you use it after running it for about 30 seconds, you can use clean water with no water quality issues at all (water quality test completed). Sorry.
-It's still the beginning, so there are a lot of shortcomings, and it's a small old house that can be cumbersome to use, but we've carefully prepared each one. I hope you have a comfortable and happy time, and if you have any inconvenience or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
