This Characterful cottage provides a peaceful, stress free retreat. A sandy tidal beach lies just a minute’s walk away and offers a tranquil swim, a rugged coastline climb or just a wander around the beach.

No rural getaway would be anything without good food and wine... Dunworley Cottage has begun a Pop Up in the main house where Dunworley Cottage Restaurant used to be!
Gilly & Richard create bespoke lunches & dinners with locally reared meat & veg fresh from their organically minded garden ...usually 3 courses and B.Y.O.Bottle for the economically minded of you!

The surrounding countryside is dotted with small colourful towns and villages. Clonakilty, the home of Michael Collins, is just seven miles from the cottage and has a wide variety of delicious restaurants and in particular a traditional irish pub where many renowned and lively bands play, De Barra's.

There is also a hotel and spa in Incheydoney with an indoor sea water pool and a thalassic health spa. Bandon and Lisselan offer great golf clubs Bandon (18 hole) and Lisselan (six holes).

Bandon also has fishing on the sea trout and salmon river, day passes are available. Also Kilcoleman fishery is well worth the day. (email hidden)ly harbouring town is 23 miles away and well worth the trip by day or night. Home to the famous and atmospheric restaurant, The Bullman, winner of many awards such as the Jameson's best restaurants The Bullman sets an exceptional standard for itself, the food never fails to please.

Courtmacsherry is five miles away and has sailing, riding, sea fishing and windsurfing facilities along the beautiful strand. Courtmacsherry also has a delicious restaurant,Travara Lodge.

The nearest shop is two and a half miles away and (email hidden)-Op. And the nearest pub is the same distance, both in Barryroe.

An open plan sitting room/ kitchen downstairs is floored with slate and rugs. Two steps up a charming dining area is situated.

Next to this is a double bedroom (all double beds are king size) with a window leading outside into the herb garden.

Upstairs a second double bed and a single bedded room has a small stone balcony with steps leading down beside the garden. Along the corridor upstairs is a bathroom including both a bath and a shower and beside this is another double bedroom with a large window with a beautiful view of the surrounding hillsides.

For extra accommodation we also have a coach house which sleeps three and has one bedroom on a balcony overlooking the sitting room which has a single bed in it. It also has a bathroom and a kitchen with all the necessary appliances in it. This can be booked at an extra cost.

  • Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Woche in dem reizenden Cottage und haben uns bei Gilly sehr wohl (website hidden). und H. Böker

  • This was one of the most beautiful spots we visited in a two week stay in Ireland. Close to the historical town of Kinsale and the Drombeg stone circle, we used it as a base but also just really enjoyed spending time at the nearby Dunworley beach and hiking along the small lanes by the cottage. There was plenty of space for our family of five, and we highly recommend it. The directions were a bit tricky though.

  • We adored this cottage! My family's favorite place we stayed on our holiday. Gilly was a gracious hostess. She met us at our arrival and showed us all around her adorable cottage. She had beautiful eggs waiting for us, and the option of fresh vegetables and home made jams and preserves.

The cottage is just a short walk from the ocean, and is surrounded by lush green farms with cows nearby. It is a drive to get there from Cork, but well worth it! Gilly provided excellent directions and we found the place easily. We took day trips into Cork and Kinsale, especially enjoying the coastal route from the cottage to Kinsale. I found it preferable being out in the country to being in town. So much more relaxed. Our sons loved the dogs and cat that lived at the farm as well.

The cottage was well appointed with everything we could need. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

  • Our host was delightful, very caring and helpful. The location although difficult to find was beautiful. So peaceful and quiet. Good place to relax, read and go for walks. A car was a must have. The nearby towns were quaint and had nice grocery stores and restaurants.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Gilly's cottage. She was really accommodating at very short notice. The location is gorgeous, we happened to get a couple of days of sunshine which made it even more stunning. Gilly's dinners are also highly recommended! Really lovely couple of days, thanks.

  • We spent a glorious week in Spring in the larger of the two cottages. A perfect space for four adults and two kids - we didn't use the bedroom downstairs but there's tonnes of space should there be more. Rustic, relaxing and homely. Beautiful location with absolutely breath taking views right on the door-step. Sun-rise is just stunning (if you need to make up a milk bottle at 6.30am). Central to many touring routes around west Cork and a short drive to the idyllic Clonakilty. A good wi-fi connection is also in the cottage - an appreciated home comfort.

Gilly and her family are wonderful hosts - you feel welcome all the time and privacy is always respected. I was lucky enough to spend my birthday one evening and we took a sublime 4/5 course meal prepared by Gilly in the cottage. Asparagus form the garden, roast lamb and the most amazing mint sauce I've ever had, followed by a serious cheese board and a homemade birthday cake! You simply need to do this if you go, and you should go. A place for memories and good times - we'd can't wait to go back and spend another week.

  • We had a wonderful time at Gilly & Richard's cottage. We arrived on a Wednesday evening and we had pre-arranged for Gilly to make us dinner since we had not eaten and the cottage is a bit of a drive to any good restaurants. We were starving and Gilly prepared a wonderful meal for us that included delicious roasted chicken and plenty of perfectly-cooked fresh vegetables. This was followed by a dessert of fresh berries and ice cream. It was one of the best meals we had on the whole trip. The cottage was lovely and peaceful. There are green fields all around divided by stone walls with cattle grazing. The beach is a short walk away. The tide change is significant so you have to be sure to go down at low tide to access the beach. The roads were lined with abundant ripe blackberries, which we enjoyed each morning at breakfast. Gilly brought us a bunch of fresh eggs and a big handful of runner beans from her garden. We visited the local towns of Clonakilty, Kinsale, and went as far as Cobh to see the Heritage Center. The driving was easy once you got used to the narrow roads and figured out the signs. The cottage is a wonderful place to get away. A car is a must though, if you want to hear music or eat at the various restaurants in the area. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to get off the beaten path.

  • Wow. What a beautiful location to take a breath of clean air and have it taken away by gorgeous landscapes. If you're up for a hike, ask Gilly to show you where the tower is. Gilly was kind enough to supply us with some food from her farm as we arrived late in the evening and she is a fabulous host. You don't want to plan too much if you stay at Gilly's. This place is one you want to drink some tea overlooking the hills and ocean and explore the countryside. I wish we had some more time here. We planned many exursions and didn't take it in long enough. Beautiful...Beautiful. Home, Host, and Location.

  • Großartig, entspannend und einfach nur schön!
This place is sublime. A beautiful cottage surrounded by gardens and fields tucked just behind a gorgeous rugged coastline. Wether relaxing in the sun chairs in the yard, picking fresh blackberry's from the road, hiking, swimming in the frigid ocean or taking in the local sights this whole area is so relaxing and magical it will take your breath away. Gilly and her family are great and made our stay that much more special. They provided fresh farm eggs and veggies for our own meals but you absolutely can't miss some of Gilly's home cooking if you have the opportunity. Thanks for everything Gilly, we can't wait to get back to Dunworley!

  • GORGEOUS location. Not even Gilly's photos do justice to the remote beauty of Dunworley Bay. A great home base from which to explore the coast of West Cork. Gilly greeted us with fresh produce and eggs from her garden, invited us to one of her famed pop-up restaurants (on site) and otherwise left us to our own privacy in the lovely 3 br cottage. Be prepared for chilly nights and cold floors-- wool socks and sweaters a must!
