If you are looking for an off-grid and quiet cabin in the forest with miles of private hiking trails, we have just the place. The Kolts cabin has 3 full size mattresses. The Kolts is adjacent to a wet weather waterfall and close to a picnic table, grill, and an outhouse shared between cabins as well as a pavilion that is great for meals or a hammock spot under roof. Make sure to bring your own water as utilities are not available onsite. (There is no electricity or potable water)

The space
The cabin sleeps up to 6 on 3 double mattresses, but there is also plenty of room for additional guests to pitch a tent or hang hammocks for a fee per night.

We have a small propane heater available. You will need to bring your own Coleman disposable propane cylinders if you want to make use of it. Expect to use between 1 and 2 cylinders per night depending on temperature.

We have other camp spots with more being added so be sure to check out our other listings and website for updates and more photos.

Where you’ll be

Whitwell, Tennessee, United States

The camp area is secluded and on top of a mountain. The address is only an approximation of the campsite. We will guide you to the location at check-in. Be prepared to drive on a rough gravel/dirt road for about a mile and half to reach the cabins. You will be most comfortable in a vehicle that is suitable for rugged terrain.

Day trips less than an hour away include the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Nickajack Lake and Bat Cave among many others. Come to hike, relax, bike, explore, and recharge.

Camp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It encompasses 994 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee. Come stay in one of our off-grid, rustic, and quiet cabins in the forest and enjoy the bluffs and rock formations, open spaces, numerous waterfalls, and expansive views. Or if you want some limited utilities, try our tiny trailer. Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads. If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir. If you are a history buff, you may be interested in discovering previous caretakers from the late 1800's and early 1900's in nearby cemeteries.

We offer a remote private area but if a need should arise we are only a phone call and a short UTV drive away.
We also offer a $30 UTV tour of the property for up to 4 people for one hour. This is a great way to preview areas you may want to hike to later or allow those that are unable to hike some of our steep slopes to see more of the camp. Please schedule with Camp Manager.
