There is no parking available on the property, however, there is a large free public parking area by the football field a 2-minute walk away.

Due to its rural location there is limited phone coverage ranging from good to non-existent depending on your network provider - many guests have actually found this to be a blessing in disguise! Neighborhood highlights

Visit this charming Cornish community and discover there is more to Cornwall than cream, pasties and coastline!

Calstock is a friendly rural village in Cornwall located on the River Tamar in the heart of the Tamar Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a lively community, and a well kept secret! The village has a rich history due to its port and deposits of; tin, silver, copper and granite and is a Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. The boat yard is still active today, located under the iconic viaduct, as the river is navigable from Plymouth at high tide.

The area is popular for its natural beauty amongst hikers, dog-walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers. The River Tamar also attracts; sailors, kayakers, canoeists, stand-up-paddleboarders and is home to some of the best salmon, sea trout and grayling fishing in the region. There are a number of regular events from comedy, film and music at the Calstock Arts Centre and the annual Calstock Bike Show.

The two pubs The Boot Inn and The Tamar Inn offer fantastic value on some pub classics (the Sunday roast at The Boot is to die for) and both the cosy Lishe Café and the more hidden Calstock Dockyard honesty café offer delicious homemade cake and scones. On sunny days the local ice cream spot Valenti’s Gelato Artisan is a must and offers a mix of both classic and more adventurous flavours.

Nearby there are numerous hiking and biking trails to discover - visit the Tamar Valley Trail centre for more information and bike hire. Popular hiking destinations include; the Bodmin Moors, Dartmoor or along the coast on the South West Costal Trail. Many iconic Cornish beaches such as Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach are only a short drive away. Nearer to Calstock the walk to Cotehele House National Trust property along the Tamar is a personal favourite, although the Okeltor mine is not to be missed.

Hello! I’m Lorraine a keen traveller, host, coffee lover and language enthusiast. I grew up in the Isles of Scilly, the small islands off the coast of Cornwall in England and have been living in Switzerland for nearly 20 years now. Being a bit eccentric I’m usually running around getting to know people and enjoy skiing, running, hiking with my dog, rowing, reading and playing the Oboe. My first career was in Nursing where I trained as a nurse tutor which gave me a love of teaching. When I moved to Switzerland I went on to pursue teaching English, Medical English and business English I now work at the Zurich Business School. I thoroughly enjoy renovating and furnishing property, especially scouring little boutique shops to find all kinds of knickknacks. I am a flexible hostess and with my local Knowledge can give you an insight into village life. I love showing people what Calstock and Cornwall have to offer, and am looking forward to meeting you!
