Surrounded by citrus and olive orchards, Villa Sofia offers a large garden, 3 bedrooms with A/C, a loft-style living space, fast wifi and a fully equipped kitchen. Ideal for relaxing and exploring Sicily's coast, mountains, culture and food.
The space
This spacious, modern 130 m² villa sits in the always-green Alcantara Valley — 10 minutes from the beach, 25 minutes from Taormina and close to Mount Etna. Surrounded by citrus trees, ancient olives and palms, Villa Sofia offers total privacy, a large private garden and a beautiful tiled 5×10 m pool for your exclusive use.
THE HOUSE
The bright, loft-like ground floor has high ceilings, modern furnishings and a cosy fireplace (firewood available for a fee). The open-plan living room connects to a fully equipped kitchen: fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, double-door fridge with ice maker and an espresso machine. Also downstairs: a toilet with bidet and washbasin, and a separate laundry room with washing machine.
Upstairs are three air-conditioned sleeping areas: a spacious master bedroom with king-size bed (180×200), a bedroom with two single beds (90×200), and a third sleeping space with a 140 cm double bed, separated from the landing by panel curtains. The modern bathroom has a large walk-in shower, double washbasin, toilet and bidet.
THE GARDEN
The natural lush garden around the house is peaceful and full of character, with shaded corners under olive and avocado trees. The pool is yours alone — no one else stays on the property.
SETTING — PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING
Villa Sofia stands in genuine Sicilian countryside, not a resort or gated development. We love it for exactly that, and we want you to arrive knowing what to expect:
- The grounds cover roughly 20,000 m² and are terraced; they are not fully fenced. Private and beautiful — but keep an eye on very young children and pets outdoors.
- Countryside means nature is close: the occasional insect, a lizard on a wall, very rarely a small visitor slipping in through the wide sliding doors. The house is cleaned thoroughly between every stay, but it is not hermetically sealed and won't feel like a city apartment.
- There is no public transport at the property. - Nights are quiet and truly dark — wonderful for stargazing, unusual if you're used to city light.
If this sounds like your kind of place, you'll love it here. If you prefer an urban or resort setting where everything is 100% all the time, another listing may suit you better — we want every guest to have the right kind of holiday.
THE AREA
A quiet, rural base for exploring the coast, Mount Etna and the villages of eastern Sicily. Excellent local food everywhere: family-run trattorias, coffee bars and wine producers offering a true taste of Sicily.
GUEST ACCESS
You have the entire house and grounds to yourselves.
REGISTRATION
Villa Sofia is officially registered with the Italian Ministry of Tourism under number IT087014C2LFOB4753 — you can verify this on the Ministry's website. By law we display this code on every platform where our property is listed. Rental conditions may vary between websites.
Guest access
The entire property is yours during your stay: the whole house, the terraced grounds with garden, and the private pool — no other guests and no owners on site. Free parking on the grounds. The pool is open in season (roughly mid-April to October).
Other things to note
- A car is really necessary — the access road is rural, and there is no public transport.
- The swimming pool is open during the season (approximately mid-April through October).
Firewood for the fireplace is available for a small fee, to be paid on site.
The grounds (approximately 20,000 m², in terraces) are not fully fenced — keep an eye on young children and pets outside.
Bedding and towels are included — not for the beach or pool, so bring your own beach towels.
And the good news: every village nearby serves rustic Sicilian dishes made from local produce — family restaurants, small coffee bars, and truly the best coffee in the world.
