I have a home in bluffton and this is by far one of the best properties on May River- special place!!
We absolutely loved our time at Bluffton's Historic Guest House and have already reserved our next stay. There is something about this spot that is so relaxing and welcoming. Love being able to walk one way to the water and another way to town. Love all the shops and restaurants and the water is lovely. The accomodations are just delightful. Can't go back soon enough!
What a great experience!
The cottage is charming and we felt very comfortable walking around the grounds. Lucy was both gracious and welcoming.
We will definitely return.
Although I have visited the Bluffton Guest House several times, I just enjoyed my Second Annual Birthday Retreat there. As always, the mattress, soft sheets and sumptuously soft towels are second only to Peter and Lucy themselves. I purchased a beautiful hand-crafted birdhouse from Peter and received some sage advice from Lucy for my picky 11 year old eater. Peter and Lucy are always quick with great suggestions about where to hang out or eat. This visit, we took their advice and visited Cahill's, the Squat and Gobble and Captain Woody's and every meal was delicious. Each time I visit, I take a part of Bluffton back with me and each time I come back, Peter and Lucy welcome me like family. You won't find a nicer spot to enjoy the May River and Lucy and Peter's hospitality!
This has to be one of the best places on Airbnb!
The guest house is charming and atmospheric - small but fully equipped and a lovely and relaxing place to stay.
Peter and Lucy are remarkable hosts - hugely welcoming and helpful. We followed their suggestions and had a memorable stay/ New Year here in Bluffton. We will be back!
My daughter and I just returned from a fabulous 3 nights at Lucy's cottage. The setting is gorgeous, and the cottage is cozy and homey like you stepped back in time 100 years (minus the modern amenities), and Lucy and Peter are just so darn nice and talented. We loved eating dinner by candle-light on the front porch of the guesthouse each night; the seafood at the Oyster house down the street is super fresh. The weather was so warm (73 degrees in late December!) and now that I'm back home in 28-degree Asheville, I'm already plotting my return!
My mom and I stayed at the cottage for Christmas. I told Mom I couldn't think of one critical thing for this review, and she said, "I can. It's too far from home!" It's cozy and warm, with great mattresses, comforters and afghans. Lucy thought of everything to make the experience great: fluffy towels, robes, great bath products, teas..... fully-stocked kitchen (a flour sifter!!) We were able to watch a streamed movie on the wifi on my laptop with no problems, and I took the most luxurious bath in the clawfoot tub. The dock is divine. Over anything else, though, Lucy and Peter are two of the loveliest people you'll ever meet. Run, don't walk, to stay at the Pritchard St. cottage.
I just have one word that describes the sense of peace that this cottage along with host Peter and Lucy transfer to the guests that stay with them...home. Everything one needs to enjoy a break from the hectic world is provided and the surrounding area lends itself to hold you in a spanish moss haze. Relax! Bluffton people are the best. This cottage is simply paradise, the river is inspirational... even in December! D
Staying at the Bluffton Prichard House Cottage was a memorable experience. I knew about this place for years and always wondered about it and put staying there sometime on my bucket list. Decided to stay here during my annual return to Hilton Head. Along with my 2 best friends we enjoyed the Cottage for our second annual girls pajama party sleepover. It not only met but exceeded expectations. Lucy and Peter are wonderful hosts. Lucy invited us into their wonderful home with the million dollar view and loads of history. Peter gave us wonderful recommendations for where to go to eat and drink since we were interested in a progressive dining approach to our evening activity. The cottage is separate from the main house and is equipped with everything you might need and then some. If you want to experience true hospitality and charm that the South is known for, come to Prichard House Cottage. Bluffton is also a beautiful historic town with lots to see and do, and Hilton Head Island beaches are a stones throw away. Hope you decide to visit. You won't be disappointed!
I went to Bluffton with my 2 daughters in law and stayed at Lucy's guest house. We were all amazed at what a great place it was. We were comfortable and pleased with the idyllic, artful surroundings. We parked the car on Friday and didn't crank it until time to leave on Sunday. We loved walking, shopping and eating in historic Bluffton. We even got a boat ride from a new friend we made, a delightful woman staying in Lucy's big house. We cannot wait to go back and may make this our annual location instead of trying another place. What could be better than this was?!
