THE PHOTO GALLERY IS IN EFFORT TO OFFER OUR GUESTS A REPRESENTATION OF WHAT IS ACCESSIBLE DURING YOU VISIT.
The cabin provides sweet cozy comfort in the concept of "tiny" living. The space is 9X12 with a loft. I urge you to visualize the square footage as we offer no illusion that it is any larger. The space accommodates the window seats, counter with stove, a table with 2 chairs, and a ladder to access the loft. The cabin is well appointed and offers plenty of storage. While it is private, please note that the cabin is 100 yards from our home. We do have a privacy fence, a 3 acre field, and 5 miles of hiking trails.
The queen size memory foam bed is in the loft. Access to the loft will require guests to climb a ladder. Bedding provided with fleece blankets and down alternative comforter. There are extra blankets under the window seats. The space is insulated and heated by propane with Mr. Heater Buddy. The cabin warms up quickly on cold days.

YES, PET FRIENDLY BUT.....
1. We do NOT allow dogs to be left unattended unless crated, or can reasonably prove that your pet will not be destructive.
2.We respectfully ask that your pet be left no longer than 2-3 hours. Tying a dog to a tree is NOT OK. (yes, this happened) Whining and barking is a bad sign.
3. Please notify us of your approximate time of departure and estimated return.
4. If the decision is to travel with your pet, the visit should include your pet. We do NOT condone or allow dogs to be left here for an entire day.
5. If you meet this criteria, please add your pet to your reservation so we are aware. There is an additional fee.
6.We require pet owners to clean up and leave no trace. No one wants to walk in a field with droppings of poop.
WATER: The cabin provides a 2 gallon crock with 3 extra gallons of water (not to be confused with plumbing and running water).
ELECTRICITY: The cabin provides a power strip to plug in devices (not to be confused with an electrical outlet). There is one electrical light, a fan in the loft and the living space. Since the experience is designed for getting back to basics, there is no refrigerator, microwave or air conditioner.
THE OUTDOOR KITCHEN: Offers a bar sink, water crock, and grill which provides RUSTIC functionality. No more no less.
THE OUTHOUSE: It is just a few feet from the cabin stairs. If you are squeamish about your bathroom activity, we strongly urge that you research the HUMANURE SYSTEM. We make no attempt to represent this as a glamorous experience. It is not a flushing toilet...nor does it offer a beautiful blue pool of chemicals. There is a bucket of sawdust that is used for composting waste.
MR HEATER BUDDY: Is a propane heater with 3 settings, high, medium and low. (Please view photo gallery) Since the space is 9 X 12, the cabin heats up quickly. We have been told on the coldest nights of the year that the main floor holds a temperature of 60 degrees. Often the loft is warm enough to crack open a window to allow heat to escape. Refer to past guests winter reviews to guide you in an educated decision.
IF YOU HAVE FULLY READ THESE PROVISIONS, it is in bad taste to write a review that indicates our failure to disclose. The listing description is written with pain staking effort to give our visitors a clear representation of what to expect. Our photo gallery speaks 1000 words. We are dedicated to meeting any guest concerns.
The 3rd sleeping option is the window seat either: 74" X 28" or 64" X 31" . We are open to inquiries of up to 4 people depending on desired level of comfort.
Guest access
THE OUTHOUSE is a composting "Humanure" system within feet of the cabin stairs. Please research if you question its functionality.
BUCKET BATHING is offered seasonally with 15 gallons of water (not to be confused with an outdoor shower). We do provide 2 guest towels, but encourage guests to bring their own if possible. We offer Dr. Bonners liquid soap, which can also be used as shampoo. We prefer biodegradable products. Outdoor bathing will be closed after the first hard frost until late spring-early summer.
HOST SHOWER: Our host shower is open between the respectful hours of 10 AM - 7 PM. We ask that you arrange a time. We may be hosting house guests, and want to give them a heads up that other people will be entering the house. Please be considerate if you are not feeling well. Thank you for your understanding.
CAMPFIRE: There is a fire pit in the field near the cabin. We DO NOT maintain this area in during the deep snow of winter. A chiminea at The Chapel in the field is available year round. WE DO NOT PROVIDE FIREWOOD. Camp fire wood may be purchased at any convenience store. We provide kindling, and adhere to a strict rule that there be no use of fuel to accelerate fire. Please note that we stay current with local fire conditions. Seasonal drought and high fire danger will prohibit the use of the fire pit and chiminea.
IF YOU ARE COOKING AT THE FIRE PIT: Please be mindful NOT to spill grease on the blue stone. It DOES NOT wash away, and will become the gift that keeps on giving.
*WIFI* If the use of wifi is important to your visit please bring a LAP TOP OR TABLET. We cannot fully guarantee the ability to connect from the tree house, though we have had no complaints. Cell service is extremely limited to provider.
Parking is available next to the shed between the 2 parking signs.
PLEASE NOTE: The cabin is private, yet close walking distance door to door of the main house. (approx. 100 yds). We do offer rooms in our home, so please be aware that there might be other people exploring the property.
Our home sits on 200+ acres with 5 miles of hiking/snow shoeing trails.
