What an amazing place! Everything was perfect. The house is beautiful, comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. It is perfectly positioned on the beach and for getting the bus to see the island. Everyone we met locally was really friendly, kind and genuinely wanted to help us have a great stay.
We will definitely be returning.
I really appreciated that Olivia contacted us before we left and suggested organising for someone to pick us up at the airport. It made the whole start to the trip trouble free.
The cottage is delightful. It's right on the beach and we enjoyed walking along that beautiful stretch of coast every day.
We had dinner at the Lone Star which although high end was delicious. Especially the fish. Ju Jus which is just beyond Lone Star had some mighty rum punches and at a very reasonable price.
We caught the yellow bus to Holetown and Speightstown. The Orange St Grocer in Speightstown is well worth a visit as it serves yummy food.
Olivia ' s brother Smitty was super helpful. He does a really good island tour and is a mine of useful information.
Olivia also called us at the cottage just to double check that we were having a great time.
Staying at Plombagine cottage was delightful and I would return there in a heartbeat.
We were greeted warmly and personally by the owner's personal family. We were shown the basic operations of the property and where and how the essential functions operated. We had food items awaiting us for breakfast the following morning. We had personal access to the owner's personal family for questions about practically anything; where to buy groceries, how to navigate the island, where to go for this or that. They made us feel part of their family. We enjoyed our interactions, shared our travel experiences, and laughed among newly made friends. This was our first trip to Barbados and our hosts were a huge factor in making this a very enjoyable experience for all of us.
Our time at Olivia's cottage was amazing with breathtaking views and a great team to assist with recommendations for local eats and sight seeing spots. The cottage has all of the conveniences and felt like home away from home. It is located minutes away from shops and restaurants. It is the spot to be and I highly recommend a stay here if you're looking to experience true Bajan life.
Upon arriving, Smitty quickly appeared and was quite welcoming. He showed us around the house pointing out how everything worked and our vacation was off to a great start. He was around periodically during our stay if we needed anything, and it seemed like he gave us just the right amount of attention.
The house sits on a very secluded stretch of beach; it was almost as if it belonged only to us. Water sport rentals, rum shack bars and restaurants are short walk down the beach to the south. We brought our own snorkel gear and went snorkeling each day right in front of the house.
We cooked a couple of nights but also enjoyed the Holetown restaurants. Sitting on the porch and looking out at the ocean both during the day and at night was awesome.
No problems with the house, it was more than enough room for a family of three and we were quite comfortable. The hardest part was leaving; we're already looking forward to coming back!
From start to finish, an AMAZING holiday. Prior to leaving, Olivia was incredibly helpful in her prompt responses to our emailed questions. Her brother Smitty welcomed us at the airport. We found great comfort in seeing a welcoming friendly face and being ensured we arrived at the cottage stress-free. Smitty was kind enough to accommodate our request to stop off at a supermarket en route to the cottage. He was so helpful in showing us how everything worked at the cottage. Olivia had a complimentary breakfast waiting for us in the fridge as well as a bottle of wine. She called us and was happy to hear we were thrilled with everything. Throughout our stay Smitty would check in on us to see if there was anything we needed. Olivia's father, cousin and neighbours were also so helpful and friendly.
The cottage immediately felt like home. The view and soothing sounds of the waves hitting the shore confirmed we found paradise. The cottage was clean and accommodated all our needs. The beach and water was absolutely beautiful. We found a favourite lunch spot down the beach as well as a convenient store with a rum bar just down the street.
We chose to hike into Holetown which was a 30 minute walk and so convenient. Lots of restaurant choices, shops and a supermarket at our disposal. The buses were frequent if we desired but we preferred the exercise.
We brought our own snorkling equipment and just a short walk down the beach allowed us to swim with the turtles on our own.
Prior to leaving, we learned that the islands can be more expensive for groceries than here in Canada. We decided to bring many staples with us and also purchase a Meat Permit for $15 US. The process was so simple and well worth it for us. We enjoyed our wonderful dinners on the deck watching the sunsets.
If you are looking for a get-a-way offering tranquility, comfort and true Bajan life, we strongly recommend Olivia's cottage.
We will definitely be returning.

Smitty, Olivia's brother, was great about welcoming us, showing us the house and how to use the electronics, he even took us on an island tour! Olivia called us to say hello and inquire about our stay, which was really nice. The pictures, on line, look just like the house and it was so relaxing. The bus system was extremely easy to use and the stop was only 1/2 a block away. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!! I highly recommend Olivia's home for anyone and everyone who is looking to enjoy a beautiful island retreat!!!
