Casa Guapa is the perfect 4 season retreat from the city. Perfectly located at the base of Hunter Mountain & 2h from NYC, this modern house was designed to be shared with those you love.
Come to unwind, drink a glass of wine, listen to good music and have good conversations over a BBQ in the porch and a late night gathering around the cauldron. Whether it's winter skiing, summer hiking or fall foliage, the fresh air of the mountain awaits you.

The space
Casa Guapa Mountain House is conveniently located at the base of Hunter Mountain on a quiet, dead end street. Trails are at your back door and you will be surrounded by forest and with a lake and mountain view. House has six bedrooms and accommodates 10
guests in total (exceptions made only for babies).

Built in 1970's and renovated in 2016, the property is a two family home and counts with 2 separate entrances - one for the main house and another for the basement apartment. Both spaces are connected from within the house and it's absolutely perfect for 2 families or big groups of friends. Please check guest access section for details.

- We do NOT have AC, but there is nothing like the cool mountain air. Basement is colder and is perfect during the summer for AC lovers.

Guest access
For reservations of 7 or more guests, the main house + basement apartment will be available.
For reservations of 6 or less guests, only the main house will be available.
Regardless of the number of guests, you will have access to all outdoor amenities.
* If you would like to book the full house even though you have 6 or less guests, feel free to just select 7 guests when booking and letting us know.

Main house: 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 2 full). kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace, 2 bathrooms. You will be the only guests at the property. Basement will be simply locked, not rented to anyone else.

Basement apartment: 2 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 single over full bunk bed), 1 bathroom, kitchen, living room with fireplace and pullout couch (for kids only). Washer/Drier is located in the basement.

*You must book or update the reservation with the EXACT number of guests you will be having on the house before check in. Absolutely no unannounced guests during your stay. Please be aware that there is a price increase from the 7th guests onward if you plan to add more guests after making the reservation.

Other things to note
We speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.

-The house is perfect for friends or family gatherings. But the house is not child-proof nor do we provide any cribs, highchairs, changing tables, etc. There are steep stairs inside and outside of the house, delicate furniture/decoration pieces, and you’ll want to be extra careful when using the indoor/outdoor fireplace. We do have a portable crib available upon request!

-We are pet friendly and we do NOT discriminate breeds/sizes. We do have a 2 dog limit and a pet fee. This goes towards cleaning fee and if any damage occur (scratching, digging, stains) it will be deducted from the security deposit.

- Cleaning and damages: Guests are expected to leave the place as found.

- Please note that our cleaning fee includes Hot Tub service between reservations so it's always in pristine condition.

Neighborhood highlights

Hunter Mountain is a ski town surrounded by the nature of the historic Catskill State Park. Cute cafes, restaurants and bars around the area will make your stay even better. Winter activities include skiing, tubing, snowmobiling. The warmer months welcome activities such as visiting waterfalls, hiking, swimming, and biking. Fall foliage and observing the stars at night are also a must.

Skiing: Hunter is walking distance. Windham's slopes are more family friendly and are a short drive away.
Hiking: Trails at the end of the lane. Also consider Kaaterskill waterfalls, the North/South lakes (for flatter trails), Colgate lake.
Swimming: you can swim at the reservoir at the end of Pine ln; swimming hole in the river behind the Library or at the main lake by the Hunter mountain base (has lifeguard).
Zoo: Bailiwick animal park is a wonderful place 30 mins away.
Food: Hunter and Tannersville cover your pizza/bbq/Chinese/Mexican basics. Windham offers more variety and the Phoenicia Diner is definitely worth a visit for brunch.
