Enjoy panoramic forest and mountain views from the house and back deck. Stunning hiking and mountain biking trails are right out the door, no car ride needed. Hike to Fallen Leaf Lake or Angora Lakes. The area is peaceful and secluded, yet shops and restaurants at the ‘Y’ are only a short drive away.

The space
Tahoe Mountain Retreat is perched on top of Angora Ridge in a grove of old growth pines and firs in a small, quiet neighborhood overlooking Tahoe Mountain.

The house is newly remodeled, with wall to wall oak floors, real stone hearths, and stone tile to compliment the surrounding forest.

This is not a rental party house, nor is it an 'investment' AirBnB; this is our family vacation home.

The kitchen is well equipped as we use the house regularly: it has a full complement of cookware (all sizes of pots, pans, trays), appliances (vitamix, rice cooker, crockpot, waffle maker, panini press, etc), serving dishes, etc. We bring our food up and that’s it.

The house is awesome and we love hanging out there:
The spacious living room is full of windows to take in views of Tahoe Mountain and Monument Peak. The living room has two areas, one for watching a movie together and another for enjoying a book or a board game by the fire.
Prepare your favorite meals in the fully equipped kitchen, and share them with family and friends around our huge rustic dining table or on the back deck with panoramic forest and mountain views

The upstairs primary bedroom is a retreat inside of the Retreat: with a king bed and en suite bathroom with both a jacuzzi tub and steam shower!!

If you just cannot get away from work, there is an office nook equipped with a Herman Miller Aeron chair, an UpLift sit/stand desk, inspiring views, and fast 332Mbps wifi. Fantastic for a Tahoe workcation.

Two additional bedrooms and another full bathroom can also be found upstairs. There is a fourth bedroom and full bathroom on the ground floor; perfect for grandparents.

The location is what you want for a Tahoe experience: away from the bustle of town, up high on a ridge backing to the National Forest, with lots of mountain activities right out the front door.

Many visits we never go into town. There are a dozen hiking/biking trails right from the house. We snowshoe and XC ski from the house in the winter. Angora Lakes and Fallen Leaf Lake are minutes away, and in the summer you can get to Pope or Baldwin Beach via Fallen Leaf Lake road and totally avoid traffic. Heavenly (20 minutes) and Sierra at Tahoe (25 minutes) are the closest ski areas. Emerald Bay is a scenic 9 mile drive.

The house is ideal for families or friends looking to enjoy a fun relaxing getaway together.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the whole house, with the exception of the garage and a few closets where we keep our things.

El Dorado County VHR regulations require a signed rental agreement. To hold your reservation we need this on file. We will send the agreement for e-signature after your booking. You will have 3 days to review and accept, or cancel. We cannot hold reservations without a signed agreement.

The minimum age to rent our home is 25 years old with a valid ID.

Our permitted max occupancy is 8 people over 6 years old. We have beds for 10 if you have kids under 6 yrs old, and a pack-n-play for our very small guests.

Due to family allergies, animals of any kind are not allowed without prior written approval.

El Dorado County collects 14% rental tax on all rents collected for vacation homes, so we collect 14% tax on all reservations, payable through Airbnb at time of booking.

Driveway and doorbell cameras are used to protect the property.

Like most Tahoe homes, ours does not have air conditioning. Our house gets a lot of shade from trees, and in the warmest summer days we use fans and open windows overnight to keep the house cool which works well.

Neighborhood highlights

Our house is in a small, quiet neighborhood on top of Tahoe Mountain / Angora Ridge. At over 6800 feet, we are more than 600' higher than Lake Tahoe so often get more snow than town does. The neighborhood feels remote, high up on the ridge, but is only a few minutes from the 'Y'.

Whether skiing in winter or hiking and biking in the summer, we enjoy escaping to the serenity of Tahoe Mountain Retreat with family and friends. We rented our house out for a couple years before Covid, but took a couple year break. We are back to sharing our place on AirBnB. We have put thought and effort into making our home a comfortable and enjoyable gathering place. We look forward to sharing our modern-rustic mountain retreat with you, so you can make your own lifelong memories!
