The space
The River Overlook Cabin was newly constructed in early 2020. There are lots of windows to gaze out at the wild and scenic St Regis River. Cabin is situated on our private 160 acre forest preserve. You will have use of 4 miles of hiking trails and a private fire pit, picnic table for outdoor dining with a view and an awesome clothing optional private swimming spot on the river.
The cabin is 16 x 23 with two stories and a large screened porch facing the river. The screened porch has a rustic cedar log love seat that pulls out into a queen sized comfortable bed.
A full kitchen is complimented by a vintage propane stove and oven. Furnishings and decor are rustic Adirondack style. Simple and elegant! There is a Japanese soaking tub with hand shower in the bathroom. Enjoy a hot bath with the sounds of the rushing river and surrounding forest.
Hot and cold artisan well water feeds into the camp for cooking, bathing and drinking.
There is a propane stove/fireplace to warm the heart and hearth on a chilly evening.
We are off grid with a robust solar system with generator back up.
A perfect social distancing retreat in a restorative setting.

We welcome diversity!

Guest access
You’ll have access to trails, swim hole, kayaks and a Finnish wood fired steam sauna which is a 10 minute walk from the cabin.

Other things to note
There are three cabins with a fire pit at each cabin site on our 160 acres. There is plenty of space to enjoy complete privacy around your cabin. You may run into other guests on the trails or at the swim hole. Text your host Sandy well in advance if you plan to use the sauna. She can start the fire for you approx 1 hour before you plan to use it.
You may order fresh food via the Potsdam Consumer Coop web site and your groceries will be delivered to your vehicle in the parking lot of the coop on Elm Street In Potsdam, NY
Non members are welcome to shop at the coop. Open 7 days a week until 7 ( closes at 5 on Sundays)

Sandy Maine began her career as an Adirondack Wilderness guide in the 1990’s and worked for private individuals as well as SUNY Potsdam Wilderness Workshop. She also developed and ran the wilderness Outdoor Recreation with Education (ORWE) program for youth in Massena in the 80’s. As a compliment to her guide services she developed a body care and natural Adirondack perfumes and cologne manufacturing business and has since become a prominent influence not only in her vocation, but also in inspiring those who shared her passion to turn their visions into thriving entrepreneurial ventures. Sandy is currently the founder and owner of Adirondack Fragrance & Flavor Farm - where innovative “farm-to-body care’ products are happening in her boutique factory just down the road!! Lou Maine has been traipsing around the Adirondacks and the St Lawrence Valley as a Land Surveyor for many years. Lou is well versed in local history, carpentry, alternative energy, star gazing, and rehabbing his antique canoe collection. Lou and Sandy's latest project was the complete Adirondack Style renovation of their vintage, off grid, private wilderness cabin on the West Branch of the St. Regis River located on the back forty of the Adirondack Fragrance & Flavor Farm. It is there they look forward to hosting guests who will enjoy the natural solitude, privacy and aesthetic comforts of the cabin, river and beautiful forest trails on their unique 80 acre property.

If you have children I love to share some fun time with my goats or perhaps have them pick a few veggies from the garden for a snack. I’m also committed to social distancing which is quite easy on our 160 acre mountain paradise!
