The Bougainvillea, a quiet retreat, is SELF CHECK-IN, located 200 feet back from Presidio Road, accessed by a private, gated entrance into a walled compound. Its private, open porch-and-patio, shaded by a lysiloma tree and highlighted by the bougainvilleas is truly a place to rest from the world.

The space
The Bougainvillea shares an entrance gate, garden and parking space with The Jacaranda and The Barn. The land they share is the remaining homestead of the original farm known as The Dowd Place that was transferred in a land grant in the early 19th century. It is very peaceful and quiet space that feels like one is in the countryside while smack in the middle of Tucson. One can clearly see the Catalinas (mountains) to the north. the property itself is just two blocks south of the county line. The hosts live on the northern section of the privacy wall, and The Hummingbird is located in the northeast section.

P.S. We cannot accomodate any Uhauls , trailers, or any larger-than-normal vans.

Bus access is 2 blocks away on Alvernon Way.
The Tucson bike path is within a block.
General access to various different sections of Tucson is readily accessible. We love the location. The immediate areas are not jammed with traffic and still has a small town feeling as if Tucson were still "just a university and cow town."

Other things to note
It is important to adhere to assigned parking in order to maintain a seamless experience. We ask our guests to be thoughtful , considerate,, mindful. and to use caution upon leaving the walled space.

This is a very diverse neighborhood within a diverse central Tucson,and the University of Arizona and its culture. It is part of historical Tucson with the old Binghamton (Mormon) settlement to the north off the Rillito River and the old army cavalry post Ft. Lowell to the east of us..
This used be the agricultural area of Tucson. Old timers still remember coming to this neighborhood to buy farm produce. The property was deeded to the previous owner, Fred Dowd by a Spanish Land Grant in the 1930s.
The greatest aspect of this location is that it is equidistant and accessible to all parts of Tucson quickly. Perfect for those with diverse interests and needs. Renowned Medical facilities are all very close by
