Our yurt (30ft. dia.) is rustic, beautiful, quiet, in deep woods with deck overlooking pond. Great for couples, small families (not childproof). Includes hot tub & Woodland Banners Poetry Walk. Beds are futons. It's warm June-Aug. (no A/C, plenty fans), but way cooler than the city. It's cold Nov.-March (wood stove heat). Mini-fridge & microwave (no kitchen/plumbing). Bath-house is 2-min. walk (toilet, sink, shower). Two minutes to Saxapahaw. Read description for more info. SERIOUSLY NO PARTIES.

The space
This yurt offers an adventure in glamping. The large round canvas structure is sited in the woods, with its own big deck (with fire-pit) overlooking Frog Pond. Inside are electricity, bottled water, 2 beds, wood stove, recliner and plenty of places to sit & chill. The big table is right for dining or doing projects. We offer coffee + coffeemaker (you make) but no breakfast. There's also a mini-fridge, microwave, plates, cups and utensils, fireplace wood. There is wi-fi & plenty books, games & DVDs (no TV; bring your laptop). The yurt is especially enjoyable in the spring and fall, and magically great in the rain. It can get cold in late fall/winter, esp. early morning. If you have a sleeping bag you love, bring it. It will be hot June-August. The space is not childproof, so best not to bring toddlers.

Guest access
The yurt is exclusively yours, as is the hot tub. Frog Pond Farm is located deep in the woods in the central Piedmont of North Carolina. Two people live here (about 100 feet up the hill), along with 2 cats, 20 chickens, 2 geese and 4 very energetic dogs. You will have access to your own heated bath house (with sink, toilet and shower), about a 2-min. walk from the yurt. You may also visit the Woodland Banners Poetry Walk, a permanent art installation on the grounds, as well as a yurt art gallery called Bourbon, Dogs & Art. You are welcome to roam our 28 acres as you like. We have no nearby neighbors.

Other things to note
On arrival, be ready to be greeted by our four extremely enthusiastic dogs, who will want to make friends immediately (we supply dog treats in the yurt). While here, expect to enjoy the sights *and sounds* of free-roaming chickens, a pair of geese and assorted wild owls, hawks, coyotes, etc. You might want to bring flashlights & umbrellas, and bathrobes for the hot tub. Remember: a yurt is a tent, so think "camping." It might be chilly when you get up in the morning. We are in the woods and you might see a spider web or the occasional insect or mouse. It is rustic.

My husband Steven Durland and I are an artist and a writer. We work at home. Our style of hosting is casual. Our property includes a permanent art installation, The Woodland Banners Poetry Walk, which has occasional day visitors. We have many dogs, cats, free-range chickens and geese, so be prepared to be welcomed noisily. We are five minutes from Saxapahaw, an historic mill village with restaurants and entertainment.
