Tucked away in the back of our 1926 property sits The Sidekick, a thoughtfully restored carriage house surrounded by peaceful woods & grand homes.

Part cowboy clubhouse, part restful retreat, The Sidekick is a conveniently-located getaway for couples (especially!), solo travelers, or small groups.

Take a dip in the saline pool, lounge in the garden, or just rest your sleepy head on luxurious linens in your sweet lil' loft bedroom.

The space
Our Amenities:

The Loft Bedroom
- Crisp pima cotton sheets, beneath a luxurious goose down duvet set from Parachute Home, all expertly arranged atop a romantic iron bed. Can't do down? No problem. We have down alternative pillows and quilts, too
- Large, hand-hewn writing desk, surrounded by power outlets and served by super-fast wi-fi, so you can crank out your work and get back to relaxing
- Peaked roof "attic style" ceiling, creating a cozy, treehouse feel

Downstairs Open Concept Flexible Space
- 55" smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime & Hulu
- Nintendo Classic game system chock full of retro games (Super Mario Brothers, anyone?)
- Comfy pull out sofa bed with queen size gel mattress
- Antique cupboard stocked full of board games, card games, vintage magazines, books, and fun stuff to leaf through
- Bluetooth speaker to play your favorite music
- Eat up bar/kitchen island
- Convenient and modern kitchen with gourmet-quality cookware and cooking tools
- Everything you need for morning coffee and tea. We source our coffee and tea from local roasters and tea shops, and provide organic half & half, oat milk, as well as sugar and honey. We offer a tea kettle, tea diffuser for loose tea, as well as a selection of tea bags.
- Basic meal-making building blocks like olive oil, condiments, spices, tupperware, foil wrap, etc.)
- Vitamix blender and shatterproof glassware for poolside cocktail-creating/enjoying

Sparkling Full Bathroom (Downstairs)
- Organic, vegan toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash)
- Plenty of fluffy bath towels in all sizes
- Turkish towels for the pool
- Two plush waffle weave robes
- Well stocked vanity (in case you forget something critical)
- The world's tiniest hairdryer (we challenge you to find one smaller)

Backyard and Pool
- Pristine saline pool with in-water bench seating and Bluetooth-controlled underwater speaker. Listen to your favorite music underwater!
- Weather depending, pool is generally open and warm enough for swimming May-Oct. We have a pool heater and can warm the pool to a comfortable temperature during transitional fall and spring months, if necessary. Additional fees may apply if you want to use the heater. Sorry, but we do not heat the pool during the cold/winter months (generally late November-March).
- Gas grill (shared with main house)
- Private seating area
- Lawn games (croquet, horseshoes, corn hole, etc.)
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging station
- Outdoor shower with privacy enclosure (open mid-Apr to mid-Nov)
- October through April, we set out a wood-burning SoloStove fire pit and a propane heater on the patio to promote more comfortable outdoor gathering during the chillier months. We also stock the space with blankets for added fireside coziness.

Please note that the upstairs loft is open to the downstairs living space and there is no bedroom door at the top of the stairs. For solo travelers or one couple, this is not an issue, but if your party consists of people sleeping on the sofa bed and in the bedroom, be aware that sounds can carry throughout the unit.

Laundry can be arranged onsite (your hosts can take it in for an extra fee), and a dry cleaner is located in the nearest shopping center, 2 miles away.

We do have one friendly dog and you may see her romping through the yard at some point during your visit. If you have a fear of or allergy to dogs, we can ensure she is kept inside our home during your stay. She is not allowed in The Sidekick. You may also see Jane tending to the garden. Don't worry, she's friendly too.

I am a former publicist & event planner, and am a hobbyist in construction and design. I like to create uncluttered, multi-functional spaces that combine elements of old and new, blurring the line between inside and out. My husband (your co-host) Justin and I spent a year restoring The Sidekick - our old carriage house - into a fun getaway that reflects those sensibilities, and we're awfully pleased to offer it to our guests. We also get a lot of inspiration from our fellow hosts' creativity in their spaces, so our first stop is always Airbnb wherever we travel.
