We’re surrounded by tropical beauty — which sometimes includes geckos, cane spiders, or the occasional roach. This is normal in Hawaii (even in luxury resorts). They’re harmless, and we keep the studio very clean and well-maintained.

Many guests say he’s the surprise highlight of their stay — several have even sketched him in our guest book along with their fond memories
There’s nothing quite like the unconditional love of a dog. Wilson doesn’t disappoint.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to enjoy our large yard for relaxation or light fitness or yoga. Washer and dryer use is available upon request and located outside in a private, enclosed laundry shed behind your studio. Complimentary detergent and dryer sheets are provided. A spacious double clothesline is also available — we often use it ourselves to dry clothes in the fresh Maui sun and trade winds. You’re welcome to use the electric dryer as well.
Please ensure all fence gates are securely latched when entering or exiting the property, including when accessing the laundry area. Wilson, our friendly German Shorthaired Pointer and co-host, is safely contained within the fenced property and should not be allowed near public street access points.
House amenities are provided for your comfort and enjoyment. A few friendly reminders:
• The Sugar Shack is a non-smoking property smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
• Please close all windows when using air conditioning
• Turn off lights, stove, and AC when leaving the property
• In the event of a power outage (it happens occasionally), please do not flush the toilet and notify us right away. The toilet uses a macerating system and requires power to flush- only toilet paper may be flushed.
• If something isn’t working properly, please let us know so we can promptly take care of it — we’re happy to help
• If you choose to play frisbee with Wilson, please throw gently and avoid tossing it over the fence. If one goes missing, just let us know — the surrounding cane grass is sharp, and we prefer guests not search for it
We’re always available if you have questions or need assistance and truly appreciate your care of our home.
Other things to note
Check In is 3pm, we will do our best to accommodate early check in when available, so feel free to check with us. We use a professional cleaning service and pay better than a living wage to our staff, thanks in advance for your support. The cleaning fee is less than what we actually pay for cleaning service. Check out must be no later than 10 am. to allow enough time to prepare the unit for our next arrival.
Taxes are imposed by the state and county and are subject to change. If a tax increase goes into effect after your booking date, a notice will be provided to you showing the official change in tax rate. Mahalo.
