The house is older but beautiful, comfortable with window air conditioning, secluded but right across from the Palisades Restaurant. I can't stress enough how lovely the house is and how welcoming Shaena was when we arrived (handmade chocolates!). Unfortunately the house doesn't …

A wonderful place. My expectations were high, and they were met completely. The place was spotless and welcoming, and the extra touches such as great coffee, fresh flowers and handmade chocolates were great. We will definitely be back.

I didn’t realize the train was RIGHT behind the house (it does say it in the description) but earplugs were provided. The house is so adorable, we loved it!

I loved the area around the house. We spent most of our time fishing the new river which runs right next to the house. Yes the railroad runs next to the house and it stays quite busy so it is something to think about. We didn’t mind it.

This place is awesome. It was built in 1923 (if I'm remembering correctly), so take that into account-- it's full of character and history, and less about right angles. We stayed here for one night on a spring day when we had a chance snowstorm, and it was beautiful. Cooked di…

Shaena is a great host and very helpful. There were many sweet touches about staying at Mr. Hunter's cottage. The local soaps, coffee, and delicious sweet treats were a special surprise. Some people may love staying so close to a train but for me this was a difficult night of sle…

Celia - We're truly sorry that you felt uncomfortable. The attic and basement of the cottage are off limits to guests, as they are unfinished. Every effort has been made to make the space that is available to guests lovely and welcoming. As is clearly stated in the listing, the train does run by the cottage. It is not on a set schedule. Sometimes it runs often and sometimes not at all. We do provide earplugs to minimize noise. There are window shades along with curtains to keep light at a minimum. Each bedroom has a door to its en-suite bathroom, and two separate entrance doors with locks, as it depicted in the photos for the listing. The cottage has a layout that is typical of a turn of the century house and as such has "old energy", as you mentioned. We feel that is part of the charm of the cottage and we wish you had had a more comfortable stay.
