Racing's historical Triple Crown is the theme for our decor. Johns Island has a rich history in Thoroughbred horses. The first horse races in South Carolina were held in Charleston in 1734. Edward Fenwick began breeding TB horses at Johns Island's Fenwick Hall. He became a pioneer of Carolina TB horses and in 1758, the South Carolina Jockey Club was founded by Fenwick and built the first race track, which is now Hampton Park. By 1791, Charleston was the center of South Carolina horse racing.

The space
The Washington Course became a Social Center for Charleston's elite. In the modern era of TB horse racing, the South Carolina training centers of Elloree, St. Mathews, Holly Hill, Camden and Aiken became prominent when breeders from all over would send their young horses to learn the ropes or send their race champions on winter breaks here. Such great race champions as Secretariat, Ruffian, War Emblem, Palace Malice, and Shackleford trained here.
So it is with this rich history in mind that we have created a most unique vacation rental experience. The completely renovated, Triple Crown House. Our decor honors this elite racing accomplishment; winning the Triple Crown which consists of 3 of the most difficult races in a single year for the 3 year old Thoroughbred horse, the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. Only 13 horses in history dating back to 1919 have done this. You will enjoy the museum like presentations of racing memorabilia collected to showcase the events though it's history. Along with a video library of famous horse racing movies, books, and documentaries. This museum is a collection of stories of the horses who passed through our state on their way to racing greatness
