Really an amazing experience to live in Paul's house. He is a charming and hospitable host preparing many things for us. And the house he provides is enough for our three people with necessary equipments. Anyhow, this is a worthy house with an approriate price which we are able to enjoy the trip. Besides, the country sight of Wetherby and the way to Wetherby is fabulous indeed. What a pity I only stayed one night:( Hope I could have a chance to meet Paul again!
Miles, ha! That's funny to hear! I never saw the photograph of my friend Cecilia in the hall as scary, but I guess I know what you mean now : )
You and your lovely friends are very charming and it was a real pleasure meeting you. It was so enjoyable! Of course you can come and stay again! Look forward to it! : )
Paul contacted us before our arrival, and arranged well for car parking and entering his house. He knows Chinese Culture and people well because he used to work in China. He hosted us with red wine and 2 hours discussion, very enjoy stay and conversation. highly recommended to stay.
Cecilia and Bushing from China...
Paul was the perfect host. He made us feel very welcome in his home in so many ways. He showed us around his home in the beginning, cooked us a delicious meal one night, lit an indoor fire on another night when it had been cold during the day, had the table set for us in the morning along with lots of fruit and items to eat. Paul was very helpful in making suggestions for places to visit both in the Yorkshire Moors and in York. He researched things for us on the net and gave us ideas of where to eat. We really appreciated what he did for us during our stay. He made us feel right at home and he was so easy to talk to. It was so good of Paul also to take us to Leeds airport as our daughter was flying back to Australia from there. Wetherby is a beautiful market town and was central to what we wanted to visit. I would really reccommend Paul as a airbnb host and his home to stay in.
We arrived late, after a long (and frustrating) day of driving. Paul was still up to meet us, and provided a very welcoming arrival to his lovely home in Wetherby. Really made us feel at home, and free to use the amenities of the house. Because of our late arrival, we weren't really able to take much advantage of the area, and had to press on. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and nice conversations w/Paul and his one other guest before departing.
Great place. Excellent host. 25mins drive to York. Paul even offered to drop us in York and pick us up. Liked the place and enjoyed the discussion we had. Will recommend the place to anyone.
We spent four nights at Paul's cottage. I would recommend this stay for a couple: Paul is a lovely host, very willing to share a good moment, and very understanding with our small baby. We were but a group of people and in our experience, the cottage is not really appropriate for a group: there is limited space downstairs, no proper extra bedding, and a very small fridge. We didn't sleep well partly because of the bad bed and the asbence of a proper blind to darken the room.
As you know Anais, I'm so sorry you didn't sleep well. Its painful for me to know this so because of your experience I've just bought a quality mattress to put on the sofabed and its perfect .. really comfortable now! Just a great pity I didn't get it for your stay.
I'm also having the curtains lined so the room will be darker once the curtains are drawn. I've always liked the curtains as they are but needs must for guests it seems.
As you know I did put your large bag of food in the additional basement fridge.
I have also taken out a large chair from the dining room to make more space, so its still cosy but more spacious ;-)
Regards to you both, and your lovely parents!
Paul received us in his place despite his absence, which was remarkable! The place was well presented and in a great location! We were very well received by a friend of Paul which clearly contributed for us to fell welcome:)

About the Host, Paul
Freelance writer, photographer, video producer and director of a biomimicry based charitable foundation. I enjoy travel, cultural diversity and meeting people.
I'm sociable, like good conversation and a chuckle over a bottle of wine! Respect people's privacy and space however!
Currently there is only myself in this friendly house! : ) .. on my own, unless I have guests (including from Airbnb) in any of my 3 listed rooms in my house .. which are rented out as individual units on Airbnb.
Some of my favourite places and recent visits include Xiamen, Shanghai, Sardegna, Barcelona, Madrid, Segovia, Paris and Wroclaw in Poland.
I'm located halfway between east and west coasts of the UK, and 200 miles equidistant between London and Edinburgh .. two of my favourite cities here in the UK. Wetherby is a great stopping-off point between the two, or for the nearby cities of York for its history, Leeds for its dynamism, its architecture, industrial revolutionary history, famous for great shopping and leisure activities, or Harrogate for its conference centres and pleasant lifestyle .. and spa water.
Wetherby is a most pleasant historic market town with the beautiful River Wharf flowing through, and is one of the gateways to the wonderful Dales and beautiful North Yorkshire Moors.
I am located directly opposite a park and all amenities including pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, post office, library (inc tourist info) and a great range of shops are all within 5-7 minutes walk. We also have some of the cheapest petrol for miles around! (Morrisons and Shell stations are very close by with Sainsbury's petrol station on the outskirts of Harrogate often cheapest just outside Harrogate about 8 miles away).
Whether you find yourself in my spacious front double bedroom or the smaller rear double bedroom, or indeed the ground floor living room, you can feel at home here with roaring open fires in the winter and a pleasant sun trap patio and garden in summer (I use them all year round!).
Looking forward to meeting you!
