Sea view with ensuite in St Ives!

House - Private room · Albany Terrace, St Ives , Cornwall TR26 2BS, United Kingdom

The Space

This is a magnificent bedroom with king sized bed and panoramic views overlooking St. Ives Bay and just a short walk from the town centre. There is also a luxury ensuite bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.

We are situated in a quiet and pleasant location with private parking for guests (something of a rarity in St Ives). If you are travelling by bus or train - we are only a short distance from both the bus and railway stations. If you are walking we are not far from the South West Coast Path.

Our Victorian, former sea captain's house is very spacious with light-flooded rooms laid out on 3 floors, just a stone's throw away and overlooking the beautiful Porthminster beach at St. Ives, making it a perfect location as a beach-side pad, with the huge benefit of on-site parking.

Please bear in mind that we are not a B & B ( we provide a bed but not breakfast! ). This is our home and you are welcome to make use of our kitchen facilities to store and prepare breakfast and snacks. In addition, there are many lovely places to enjoy breakfast within walking distance.

WiFi / Linen and towels included.

Our house is the ideal base from which to explore St Ives and the surrounding area. After a few minutes' walk down the road you'll find yourself in the heart of the town. Spend an afternoon meandering around the maze of winding cobbled streets (affectionately known as the 'downalong') and you'll see that there are delights to discover around almost every corner. A wealth of interesting independent shops, cafes and artists' studios line the streets leading down to the town's ancient harbour, where you can still watch the local fishing boats unloading their catch at high tide. Take a boat trip out to Seal Island to watch the Atlantic Grey seals lounging on the rocks and enjoy fantastic views of the coast and Godrevy Lighthouse, or try your hand at fishing on a traditional Cornish lugger.

And of course, there's the art. The Tate St Ives - art gallery - the flagship of Cornish art - and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Gardens, together with a plethora of small independent galleries, are all within easy walking distance.

A walk in the opposite direction along the scenic Cornish Coast Path to Lelant (and beyond) allows you to take in plenty of fresh sea air, as well as outstanding views of the rugged cliffs, glorious beaches and lush greenery that make up the unique coastline here. If your feet get tired, you can return on the branch line from Lelant. Hugging the cliff edge and offering unparalleled views of the bay and Godrevy Lighthouse, this is probably one of the most spectacular train journeys in Britain (and it stops at Porthminster beach).

  • Carolyn's house is a thing of beauty! Spacious and stylish- a wonderful place to stay whilst enjoying a few days in St Ives. Carolyn was very welcoming and had the best tips for places to eat.

  • Carolyn and Jim are a great couple who provided a lovely room in a lovely house with beautiful views over St. Ives - it was a treat to wake up to this every morning!
I would highly recommend & definitely stay again if visiting the area.

  • Don't even think twice, about staying at this beautiful seaside home! Carolyn and Jim are the nicest people, and were so helpful to us regarding navigating the area and choosing from the many restaurants nearby. Their home is furnished like that out of a magazine, yet warm and inviting. The bedroom and bath are spacious and beautifully decorated, with the "sea-view" that we were looking for in a vacation experience. Our only regret, is that we only stayed two nights. The area is plentiful with history, castles and coastal paths....we could have easily spent a week in St. Ives. If we should ever return to the area, we would definitely stay with Carolyn and Jim!!!!

  • A wonderful place to stay! Carolyn & Jack were perfect hosts and great to chat to. The room is so lovely with an extremely comfortable bed, luxury linen and very tastefully decorated. We loved the view of the ocean from the room. Don't hesitate in booking!

  • This stunning room was hands down one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. And we got more than we bargained for with our terrific hosts - lovely chats each night before we headed up to bed and always a "hello" from the beautiful cats which only added to the experience! The view from this room was just sensational. The design of the home has had so much care and love and is nicer than any hotel you are likely to find. By the end of the trip Carolyn and I had swapped shopping tips and Justin my husband loved talking Breaking Bad with two other big fans. We felt so welcome and would recommend Carolyn's room to anyone. The perfect hosts! And they had super tips for us on St Ives and the surrounds. We miss you guys!!!

I live in St Ives with my husband James and two cats. We love living here by the sea and spend any spare time walking along the coastal paths enjoying the glorious scenery. We enjoy tending our garden and vegetable patch, playing tennis and yoga and visiting the many great restaurants to enjoy the fresh local produce.
