Cozy apartment in the quaint lil town of Lithopolis, minutes from Columbus & Lancaster. Choosing not to vaccinate? Please don't book. I'd rather lose money than cost someone their life.
Local eateries & shops, plus nearby metro parks, groceries & other shopping make this a perfect place for business or leisure; overnight or long-term. We are safe for, affirming of, and welcoming to the LGBTQIA+ community.
If your preferred dates aren't open message us and we'll see what we can do for you.

The space
When our children headed off to college this unique apartment served as a temporary "empty nest" while we searched for a smaller home. *Temporary* ended up being over 3 years! Though the exterior of this cabin was covered years ago with not-so-attractive siding (and still is) AND it was joined with a neighboring building to make a duplex, we felt a pull to purchase it. A quirky, uninspiring exterior is still what you see when arriving, there is even a slight slant that can only come from a more than 100 year old cabin. We have exposed the character & beauty of some of the interior log walls, added live edge walnut shelves in one bedroom, a barn siding light fixture in the kitchen, and vintage roofing metal on the living room shelf to make this a unique & cozy space.
The first floor has a spacious living room, a small bedroom, galley-type kitchen, and a full bathroom w/ washer & dryer. The kitchen has basics such as pots, pans, dishes, wine opener, coffee maker, coffee, tea, sugar, and a few small snacks. In addition, there is a filtered water spigot at the kitchen sink. The full bath has plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a first-aid kit. Living room has a 42" wall-mounted television with a Roku that's set to Guest Mode so you can use your own streaming subscriptions for viewing. There is wi-fi available, but no cable. Upstairs you will find a large loft-style bedroom with queen bed & a futon that converts to a full size bed, a very large closet, ceiling fan, and a 1/2 bath.
We've decorated with a mix of antique, vintage, new, and used furniture and art throughout, which makes this space comfortable, warm, and inviting. The large deck on the rear of the home has a gas grill and plenty of seating for dining al fresco or enjoying your morning tea while listening to the birds sing. Because of the way the original structure was built the deck is more than a full story off the ground & not suitable for small children. There is a dedicated driveway on the right side of the building as you face it. Street parking is occasionally available. We offer self check-in with an electronic deadbolt lock.
**no smoking inside the unit (we will charge you carpet cleaning a fee to remove smoke smell)
**no pets allowed (we will charge you a carpet cleaning fee to have a company remove pet dander)
**no use of the back yard. Please stay on the deck only.
**no parties or events
Thanks in advance for taking good care of our place.

Other things to note

* In the summer a window AC unit is upstairs. It will get the upstairs COLD. We ask that you help us and help the planet by keeping it set at 74 or above.
* Street parking is very limited. There is a dedicated gravel driveway on the right side of the building.
* Guests do not have use of the back yard.
* Guests do not have access to the small closet under the stairs.
* Keep in mind this building is over 100 years old, the layout is unusual, quirky, and unique, and so is the exterior. Kitchen cabinets, countertop, and bath/shower are certainly not new but they are ALWAYS clean for you.
* We ask that our guests take the trash bin to the curb if staying on a Tuesday night. Trash will be picked up between 5am-4pm on Wednesday.
* Absolutely no parties.

Neighborhood highlights

The village of Lithopolis was originally laid out in 1815 as Centerville. In 1836, it was chartered as Lithopolis. The name Lithopolis is derived from the Greek language and means “Stone City.” The name Lithopolis is a reference to the large deposits of valuable stone that were found in and near the town. The native stone was used in the construction of The Wagnalls Memorial Library. (be sure to check out this beautiful building and treasured landmark.)

Other local shops include Law & Benson Olde General Store, two antique stores, and an assortment of other small shops within blocks. Coming to town for a wedding, reunion, or other event at the Old Blue Rooster venue? We are only half a mile away!
If you love the outdoors Chestnut Ridge, Slate Run, and Walnut Woods Metro Parks are all less than 5 miles away and Three Creeks Metropark is 8 miles. In addition, Old Man's Cave/Hocking Hills State Park is 42 mi. away. All of these parks are beautiful and have great trails!
