Cozy family-run log cabin located 80 m from Kultsjön between Saxnäs and Klimpfjäll after Vildmarksvägen. Nice mountain views of Marsfjällen, the mountain Stöken and the mountain village Saxnäs right over the lake. Perfect for unwinding and spending peaceful and relaxing days out in the wilderness that lies directly outside the knot. Hike, paddle, row, or ski. Simple kitchen, 6 beds, new water toilet, shower and sauna in separate rooms. WiFi. Renovation has been going on for a few years. Welcome to 5 Generations

The space
The 55m2 log cabin is located on a sunny southeast slope 80 m from the clear waters of Lake Kult. The cottage was built in 1967 and has been managed since 2017 by the host Tobias who is the fourth generation in the family who now takes 5 generations in the family to this beautiful mountain valley. The property has been undergoing refurbishment for some years.

The old part of the cottage has a simple but fully equipped kitchenette that currently only has cold water in the tap. There are several options to easily get hot water in the kitchen. There is a wood fired iron stove, a microwave, an oven and two electric hobs. In the kitchen room there is also a space-built wide bunk bed that can accommodate two adults per bed. The living room has a bunk bed where under the bunk is wider, a kitchen table, a window table, a fridge and wood fired fireplace.

The separate small outhouse has a fully isolated room with a bunk bed that provides two extra beds in case there is a need for more beds. Just outside the outhouse there is also a traditional outhouse that should be experienced in the moonlight in midnight when the owl hoarse.

2017 began a new expansion of the cottage in traditionally knotted 6 inch timber taken from the mountain valley in the Stalon area. The extension gives the cottage a larger hall, separate toilet rooms, shower room with shower cabin and an app controlled electric sauna, which allows the sauna to be warm when you arrive. The toilet room is equipped with modern extremely low flushed water toilet (WC - EcoFlush porcelain toilet with separate toilet) and a sink with hot and cold water. In 2019 a separate 15 sqm 8 inch hand timbered hut with peat roof was erected.

In the refurbishment, we have tried to reinforce the traditional settler Västerbotten style to inspire first and foremost find peace, tranquility and connection to nature and yourself. The other tip we have is to be curious and discover the area by exploring tours by using the body to hike, row, paddle or ski. Therefore, for example, there are no large social indoor areas with soft sofas for most of the awake time spent best outdoors.

stunningly beautiful place is well worth a visit all year round. At least one visit each season as below:
Winter: November-March (Very snow)
Spring Winter: April-Mid May (Very snowy and sunny and warm weather. It can be up to +20C if the sun is on despite all the snow.)
Spring: Mid May-June (No snow and up to +15C)
Summer: June-mid August (Up to +20C)
Autumn: mid August-October (Snowy mountains, yellow and orange birch leaves break off and make the landscape very beautiful to look at)

When you're a guest with us, we want to treat you a little extra. With us, you will have access to the following through your booking:
* Our Kultsjutalen Guidebook - An overview of places, offers and services that make it easier for you to prepare your stay and make the most of the mountain valley once you are here. Our hope is that you will return and perhaps stay longer than originally intended. For example, it is possible to work digitally from our cottage.
* If you book a rowing boat (spring to autumn) or snowshoes and poles (winter time when the ice carries), there are a handful of suggestions for unique tours in the area that are not easy to find otherwise. Both shorter tours and longer tours that suit everyone. We highlight the two clearest and most unique tours to do from Stornäs village here:
1. The mountain top Stöken's unique and stunning panorama view of the mountain valley with spectacular views towards the Marsfjällen mountains and the Marsfjäll massif. If you are going to hike up a mountain in the mountain valley, make this day trip. You will not regret it.
2. Stornäs - Fatmomakke: Discover and relive how Swedish settlers, south sápmi, north sápmi and Norwegians arrived at the spiritual shopping and festival site Fatmomakke over the water more than 100 years ago before the roads existed.
* Unique insight into what it could be like when the first settlers came to Stornäs village 150 years ago via the TV series Nybyggarland part 1 - Stornäs. The TV series, which was seen by up to 40% of Sweden's population, was recorded in 1972 a stone's throw from our cottage in Stornäs, where the main role of the settler Mikael Edman timbered his house.
* The history of Kultsjutalen - after the Ice Age to present time (Discover: Nybyggartiden, Norgefärarna, Fjällturismen, Emigrationen, Stekenjokk mine, etc.) via a historical summary.)

*New by host Wi-Fi controlled Adax element increases the comfort of the cabin and ensures a more balanced heat distribution and more energy-efficient operation better distributed over the fuses.
*2 new Wellpur mattresses in the bottom beds for an even more comfortable and comfortable night's sleep.

*Fast Wi-Fi that allows you to "Work From Home-WFH/Digital Nomad Creator" from the cottages. The outhouse and log cabin can be used as an undisturbed study.
*Washing machine
*New Fridge/Freezer
*New pillows and duvets
*Coffee maker

*App-controlled electric sauna that can be warm when you arrive at the cottage.

If you are interested in staying for a longer period and/or are 5 people or more, there is always the opportunity to talk about what you experience as a reasonable price for your particular needs. Send us your booking request and please state which price indication you think is reasonable and we will find a solution that suits you. The prices here are mainly optimized for up to 4 people and for shorter stays.

In 2020, more than four solo adventurers have used the cottage as a base and made tours of the mountain valley. We are thrilled to be able to give our most adventurous visitors this opportunity. After a year, however, we have evaluated and come to the conclusion that we basically want to start from a price for two guests. The main reason for this is that too large a proportion of soloists were too inexperienced. If you are an experienced solo adventurer who is used to making fire and lying outdoors for longer periods of time, you are still welcome to book your solo adventure with us. Make your reservation for two people and motivate us as to why you're qualified and we'll give you your best solo nightly rate.

*Insulated floor in the old part of the cottage and better floor plan with a larger kitchen and separate bedroom with two bunk beds.
*A separate traditional 15m2 log cabin in 8 inch timber with 3 beds, kitchenette and dining table. Broken peat roof in four directions. Magnificent view over the lake and mountains.

Together we can realise this vision.

As a guest with us, you contribute directly to creating work and services that are carried out by the local actors. We do a lot of the refurbishment ourselves, but since 2017 we have always used the local actors for work that we cannot handle ourselves. Examples of work carried out by local actors include earthworks, timber expansion, maintenance work, electrical work, extra services and services. In this way, we help to create the vision in the long term with the spin: guest => host => improvement/local actor => guest (repeat of the spin)

-25% PASS ADVENTURE FORWARD DEAL - Tell your friends
25% off your next booking is always valid for anyone who tipped their friends about the cottage so that the cottage is rented out on two occasions. If you manage to get two more rentals, you will get 25% off your next booking.

For some years now, there is fine 4G coverage via mast in Saxnäs across Kultsjön from our cottage. We pay attention to the beauty of being close to the wilderness: Every single day of the year it can rain so much over the lake that there is no mobile coverage. Most of the time, it is possible to stream video via your mobile phone in the window towards the lake in fairly clear weather to set your expectations regarding mobile coverage in and around our cottage.

In the price yesterday unlimited Wi-Fi 10 Mbit via 4G mast and prepaid card for internet surf.

Long-stay options:
Fixed fiber (25 Mbit to 1000Mbit) is possible. Please contact the host for more information. Extra charge will be applied.

Where you’ll be

Vilhelmina, Sweden

The cottage is strategically located in the middle of Kultsjödalen between the mountain villages Saxnäs and Klimpfjäll. The cottage is secluded but it is still easy to reach all the sights in the area such as: Stekenjokk, Fatmomakke, Marsfjällen, mountain Stöken, Klimpfjäll (light trail for cross-country skiing and ski slopes with a few lifts and over 10 slopes) and Saxnäs (a fishing, cross-country skiing and snowmobile center in this part of the mountain values).

The cottage is located at the end of the road in Stornäs village, a small sleepy but adorable beautiful mountain village where some properties have year-round accommodation.

During your stay

The host is reached via email and phone. Most functions in the cottage are remotely controlled via contact with the landlord. Usually the landlord is not on site and available in person. If you visit this magically beautiful part of the Swedish mountain range for the first time, the host will help you find the right fit. If you have special needs for experiences or guided tours, we solve this with local guides who cherish the wilderness, adventures and outdoor activities as much as we do.
