Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Our Fisherman cabin has two bedrooms with queen sized beds, one full bathroom, and sleeps four guests. The front of the cabin faces the river and the back is just steps from the Creeper Trail. All of our cabins have well-stocked kitchens, a family room/dining area, large covered porches with gas grills, AC, Smart TV and Wi-Fi. Bring your streaming account information to sign in.

The space
At Laurel Run Cabins we strive to create a 'home away from home' atmosphere. Our cozy and charming log cabins have warm wood interiors, sweet country décor, plenty of extra quilts, games and reading material for cooler weather. When it's warm outside, the property offers great river access for fishing, swimming and kayaking (bring towels and river shoes!) Pet friendly with a $60 per pet charge. We have recently installed gates on the porch to help keep you kids and pups on the porch while you relax outside with them.

Guest access
Guests in all of the cabins are welcome to use the outdoor space around the cabins including the fire pits and river frontage all the way down to the bridge, but we ask that you respect the privacy of the main house on the opposite side of the property. Be aware that guest from all our cabins all share the river frontage, so you may see them near your cabin as they enjoy the river too.

Other things to note
-PET OWNERS- please thoroughly read our pet policy in 'House Rules' before booking and reach out with any questions.

-PLASTIC SNAKES are nailed to the deck to deter birds from visiting, please warn the other guests that they aren't real :)

-SWIMMING AND KAYAKING- we ask that you bring your own towels for the river, and strongly recommend that you wear river shoes.

-HWY 58- is the road running the length of the property. It's a two lane highway that gets medium traffic during daylight hours, and very little at night. This has only come up a couple of times in hundreds of reviews, and genuinely doesn't detract from the riverside cabin experience. Light sleepers are provided with earplugs in the medicine cabinet.

Neighborhood highlights

Damascus is a small but lively town with lovely period architecture and a soul of southern hospitality. Boxed in on three sides by National Forest, the area offers unparalleled access to the outdoors for people of all fitness levels. Often referred to as “Trail Town, USA”, it is known for its hiking, biking, and heritage trails. The Appalachian Trail follows Laurel Avenue right through the heart of Damascus. The Virginia Creeper Trail, a 34-mile multi use trail from Abingdon to Whitetop Mountain, is one of the countries most cherished Rail-to-trails. The Trans-America National Bicycle Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, the Daniel Boone Heritage Trail, the Crooked Road Musical Heritage Trail, and Virginia’s Birding and Wildlife Trail all pass through Damascus along their routes. Neighboring parks like Grayson Highlands State Park, Hungry Mother State Park, and the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area offer hiking at every degree of difficulty, and some of the best single-track mountain biking you will find in the U.S. The highest navigable road in Virginia leads to the summit of Whitetop mountain, which provides panoramic views of three states from over 5,000 feet of elevation.
Aside from the 1,500 feet of river frontage you’ll be able to enjoy at Laurel Run Cabins, there are many more nearby rivers and streams in both Virginia and Tennessee offering world class trout fishing and a wide variety of other game species, along with kayaking and rafting. South Holston Lake (20 minutes from the cabins) is gorgeous and never overcrowded. Renting a Pontoon boat, jet ski, SUP, or kayak are great ways to get out on the water and explore this unspoiled area.
Nearby Abingdon, a Virginia Historic Landmark and thriving artistic community, hosts the Barter Theatre, which opened on June 10, 1933 and is the longest-running professional theatre in the nation. Enjoy unique local shops, historical buildings, a thriving farmers market and year-round live music at a number of venues. This year Abingdon was voted #1 in USA Today’s “Best Small-Town Food Scene” competition. Try White Birch, 128 Pecan, Morgan’s, The Peppermill, the Tavern, or The Harvest Table in nearby Meadowview.
