This historic brick home is located in College Hill Conservation Historic District, just a few minutes walk to many entertainment venues, museums, galleries, theaters, churches & restaurants. Just a few blocks from downtown Iowa City, the Ped Mall as well as close to Kinnick Stadium. The building has been completely restored and will feel like your home away from home! This listing is initially provided as a 1 bedroom but a 2nd bedroom is available when requested and prior arrangements made.

The space
The Rocklyn Apartment Building was built in 1872 before the turn of the century and barely survived in the 2006 tornados. It was fully restored by Gloria and Ron Walsh, your hosts, that live on the property. They continue to enjoy and take pride in its history look forward to welcoming you. Great care has been given to this building and it has been a labor of love for Ron and Gloria. Included in this private apartment is a completely stocked kitchen, including coffee, teas, hot chocolate, and water. The newly renovated bathroom has towels, blow dryer, shampoos, makeup pads, towels, and body washes. This prime location is 6 blocks from downtown, College Hill Park, the Iowa City Ped Mall with many restaurants and activities to make your stay more enjoyable.
The listing is discounted for those that need only the main bedroom for a 2 person stay. The second bedroom is easily available upon request with prior arrangement. Please reach out for details.

Guest access
Guests have access to the private deck area, the kitchen, the bathroom, living room and main bedroom. Please note that the second bedroom is also available with prior arrangement for the duration of your stay for an added $10 per night for any stay with 2. It is included with any stay of 3 or 4. Just reach out and send a special request inquiry if you wish to add this 2nd bedroom to your 2 person stay and we will send you the special offer.

Please know that extra precautions are taken to insure a safe environment for your stay. All surfaces are wiped and disinfected after each guest stay. We value your safety and peace of mind.

Neighborhood highlights

Our home is located in a historic neighborhood of Iowa City. Being a college town there are also several rental properties in the area. We are within few blocks of downtown. Our street, which has a median on the street ends at the location of the Old Capital building. The other end of the street - a block down - ends in what was the old governor's corner/circle with the old historic homes.
