Oystercatcher Cottage is situated in a stunning seaside location enjoying panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean. It is an old cottage which has been renovated over the years while still maintaining it's rustic charm. It's located close to many beautiful beaches, in one of the most scenic spots along the Wild Atlantic Way in Connemara. The views from the cottage are simply breathtaking.
The space
This is a small traditional cottage perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The cottage and garden are private with no close neighbours. The outside area includes a decking area with panoramic sea views, a good sized garden, patio area and shed/laundry room. The inside space comprises a kitchen/dining area, cosy sitting room and bathroom on the ground floor. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs which are accessed by a wooden ladder as seen in the photos (please note this may not be suitable for young children or elderly/infirm adults – look at the photos to decide whether it is suitable for you and your group). There is one bedroom with a king-size bed and another bedroom with 2 single beds, sleeping 4 people in total.
The door from the kitchen leads out to the decking area where you can enjoy fabulous sea views. If you are lucky you might even catch sight of dolphins passing by. In the summer months you can see beautiful sunsets over the sea.
The cottage combines many traditional features with modern conveniences including a multi-fuel stove, electric heating, hot water and a small but fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, fridge, dishwasher and everything you need to cook your own meals. There is Wifi, TV, Xbox and a selection of dvds, games and books. There is a washing machine and clothes dryer in the adjacent shed, along with a BBQ and outdoor furniture for your use.
Depending on the weather, the cottage can be a calm and idyllic place; a real paradise, or wild and windswept as it sits on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Either way it's a special place to be. It's particularly suitable for couples looking for a romantic getaway or small groups of friends/family who want to experience the raw beauty of the West of Ireland.
The name 'Oystercatcher Cottage' comes from the sea birds often seen and heard on the shore below.
Guest access
You will have sole access to the cottage, adjacent outhouse, decking area and garden during your stay.
Other things to note

Note there are steps between the parking area and the house; it is NOT wheelchair accessible.
To access the bedrooms upstairs you must be able to climb the wooden ladder. Please look at the photos before booking to decide whether it is suitable for you and your group.
We accept pets. Maximum 2 dogs.
Dogs must be kept under control as there are often sheep in the fields surrounding the house. Please clean up any dog poop in the garden before you leave.
