Dinning, kitchen and and living room are one big room! :)The living room area is an open floor plan to the dinning and kitchen space, so it is quite large and there is plenty of space for yoga or just relaxing.

This is the entire 2-bedroom (1-bedroom & 1-office) & 1-bath 1st floor apt. in a single family Bi-Level home. The downstairs has a door so you have total privacy. The front entry way is shared and the laundry which is downstairs is shared. No pets or small children, please.

The space

We want to provide a green and sustainable place to stay at a reasonable price!! We have created a comfortably furnished spacious apt. with all the necessary amenities in the kitchen to cook full meals. If there is something that is not in the downstairs kitchen we probably have it and will happily loan it to you. One of the best features about this apartment is the location and all of the outdoor access at your finger tips described below!! :)

If you are an outdoors person that this is the place for you!! We are right at the foot hills of the Rockies and you can be in the mountains within minutes from our house.

We also have a tons of outdoor gear and will rent it to you for a small fee if you need something you didn't bring.

Guest access

You will have access to the whole downstairs as your privet space and we ask that you respect our privacy as well to the upstairs half of the house.

Our dog Bo Jack is very people oriented but stays upstairs or in the backyard. If you are allergic to dogs this may not be the best option for you. Also, because he is the pet of the house we don't rent to other pets since he doesn't always like other animals but always loves people.

Interaction with guests

We are very friendly and happy to provide information about the local area and have friendly conversations in passing but we are usually very busy so you probably won't see us much. If you need something there is almost always one of us home and would be happy to help out where ever we can. We are quite and appreciate that to be reciprocated but we aren't dead either, so if you want to play music while cooking dinner or relaxing that's totally fine.

Other things to note

The laundry is downstairs and is shared but we try to do our laundry when our Guests aren't home so we don't inconvenience their privacy or disturb them late at night or early in the morning.

Heather and Chad were absolutely wonderful and the space was perfect for my husband and I. Heather and Chad were respectful, considerate and very communicative. They let us have our private space, but were willing and eager to provide recommendations and answer any questions we have. Heather and Chad eagerly made accommodations for us many times - including when we had guests in town and when we needed to adjust our stay time. The space was wonderful -- it is well furnished, with new kitchen supplies and furniture to help make our stay comfortable and convenient. Everything was very clean The neighborhood was so much fun to explore -- North Table Mountain was within walking distance - providing many fun hiking and biking trips. I would definitely recommend staying with Heather and Chad in Golden in the futuere.

Heather was a very hospitable, generous and pleasant host. She also struck me as a very hard working, respectful, intelligent and focused young lady. I shared the apartment with her, husband Chad(for a few days) and her humorous, beautiful friend Lacy. They were all very nice people who made me feel at home. Although I am much older than Heather, we got a long very well and spent plenty of quality time either shopping, sightseeing, dining or simply conversing and learning more about each other’s cultures and professional lives. Her love for a specific shade of colour blue was amazing. If I needed to look out for her in a cloud, I simply looked for the lady in blue. We actually became good friends and have continued to keep in touch. I hope I can host her in Kenya someday. I would most definitely recommend Heather to prospective guests.

I'm an Aerospace Engineering PhD student at CU-Boulder that researches robotic gardening for space habitats. Part of my research is to grow strawberries in Antarctica as an analogue for Mars and am currently studying hydroponic green strawberry growing and green house engineering.

I'm a hot springs/hot tub enthusiast, I love all things outdoors and nature related, art, gardening, aquariums, dancing, all kinds of music but techno is my favorite. I also tell people I'm an artist trapped in an engineers body.

I do several other types of engineering including mechanical and natural building techniques. I have my own company Stellar Synergetics that builds sustainable geodesic dome homes, green-houses for urban food production, disaster relief and space habitats that incorporates all kinds of sustainable technology including growing systems and resource recovery systems aka environmentally closed-loop systems and soon to come aquaponics integration.

I'm sure I could have lot's to talk about with most people since I have a broad range of interests however, I usually really busy on most of my trip with meetings and the workshop, etc. so you most likely won't see me most of the time when I'm staying a way from home.

Cheers,
Heather
