Nestled in the heart of the Flint Hills in Kansas, Prairieside Cottage is an idyllic family-friendly retreat. The newly-renovated open plan cottage is located on the edge of town with 8 private acres of beautiful tallgrass prairie beside it.

The space
Nature lovers, artists and vacationers looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway will enjoy Prairieside Cottage.

The main house features a full kitchen, dining room, living room, office space, bedroom and bathroom with a deep soaking tub. The second sleeping area is located in the semi-private office space (has a privacy curtain) and contains a comfortable Queen-size futon bed. The property also has a quaint one-room studio building that can be used as an artist’s or writer’s studio.

Prairieside Cottage is located on the edge of Matfield Green, Kansas, a tiny and energetic creative community on the Flint Hills National Scenic Byway K-177 Highway. Local attractions include an art gallery that features regional and contemporary art and the historic Pioneer Bluffs Ranch that hosts regular events, workshops and lectures. Nearby Cottonwood Falls and Strong City boast restaurants, shopping and museums, as well as the iconic Chase County Courthouse. The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve (a half-hour drive from Prairieside Cottage) is a continuous 10,000+ acre grassland that maintains year-round hiking trails, nature trails and educational tours for the entire family about this unique ecosystem. Other nearby attractions include: a fishing lake, rivers, creeks, abundant wildlife, hiking, biking, driving tours, birdwatching, stargazing and all the daydreaming you can do.
