"This Catskills log cabin is a true upstate beauty, a seamless blend of rusticity and modernity" - Time Out Magazine "Best Cabins to Rent Across the Country"

Offering a retreat to the forests of The Great Northern Catskills, encouraging a return to Nature.

The space
The Cabin in the Catskills is an authentic, hand built log cabin on a 5 acre clearing in 20 acres of woods with trails, bordered by a creek with wading pools, swimming holes and waterfalls.

We are a Green Cabin in Greene County. We supply eco-friendly products and implement sustainable practices.

This secluded, one of a kind log cabin is a 2.5 hour drive from the GWB. The fully furnished cabin is clean, cozy and airy and is a great place to get away and reconnect with nature.

The chef's kitchen is big and open and perfect for group cooking and gathering. It features a Viking stove, Meile dishwasher and 2 sinks.
In the walk in pantry you'll find a Chemex coffee maker, cones and filters for drip coffee, a coffee grinder and a French Press (bring your own beans, or beans ground for a drip), a mixer, cuisinart, waffle iron, ice cream maker, pop corn maker, roasting pan and large pasta pot.

The open plan cabin features a living area with cathedral ceiling and a wood burning stove; a farmhouse dining table that easily seats 6; a great collection of both adult and children's books, a game table for checkers and chess, puzzles, cards and board games.

Wireless high speed internet access is available; stereo with an auxcord, or Bluetooth enabled, with indoor and/or outdoor speakers; Hi Def Projector with an 84" pull down screen for movie watching in the upstairs King room.

Outside is a 500 square foot deck, with a covered porch for rainy days, a fire pit, a tire swing, a sledding hill in winter, a tree house and a big front lawn, perfect for a football game or snowball fight.

The cabin is surrounded by 20 acres of private, quiet, beautiful woods, full of deer, turkey, squirrels, owls and chipmunks. There are paths along the creek and through the forest. Down the creek you'll find a swimming hole that is 12 feet deep in the middle. Further down and across the road you can swim under a waterfall. If you hike up the creek you'll find another, completely private swimming hole, waterfall and wading pools.

Explore the area: hiking trails in the Catskill Mountains; visit the town of Windham; ski Windham Mountain or Hunter Mountain; visit Olana - the home of Hudson River artist Frederick Church; The Thomas Cole House; the town of Hudson with it's fantastic restaurants and shops; the charming town of Catskill, or simply stay at the cabin, unplug and spend some relaxed time with the ones you love.

With the stars, the wildlife and the trees, we hope you can enjoy the rejuvenating power of nature.

Well behaved dogs are welcomed.

Guest access
You'll have the entire cabin and 20 acres of land.
Our neighbor will come to mow the field as necessary.
The cabin is a home and a retreat, not a party house.
While you are at the cabin, you are a steward of the land. Respect the land, the trees, and the wildlife.

Other things to note
Only use the indoor wood burning stove, and the outdoor fire pit if you know how to safely build and tend a fire.
The property is un-groomed and wild. There are bluffs and fallen trees and deep places in the creek.
There are no guns allowed on the property at any time, for any reason.
