Interaction with Guests
It's a pleasure for me to meet people from all around the world - I'm not working outside so I have time to give them all advices to have a special experience in our country, to discover secret part of south of France.
Where do I start! Everything about our stay, from start to finish, was wonderful.
The Accommodation: The beautiful chambre d'hote has been lovingly and sympathetically renovated and restored by Marianne and her husband Etienne. It is the perfect mix of old French style with the odd modern touch of comfort. Beautiful original stonework and French furniture made it a pleasure to spend time in and Marianne certainly has an eye for interior design. The bed is so comfortable and we particularly enjoyed spending time sitting in the sun on the terrace for breakfast (more on that in a minute!) surrounded by lush greenery and the most beautiful roses and gardens. It really is a haven. The chambre d'hote is set within a walled and gated garden, along with Marianne and Etienne's own beautiful house and their new accommodation that was just being finished when we stayed (also fantastic!), so it's very secure.
Our hosts: Marianne and Etienne could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We joined them for a drink on our final night and enjoyed every minute of their company during our stay. Marianne was so helpful with recommendations on where to visit, the best route to get there, where to park when we got there etc...and we were able to pack in lots of sight-seeing during our five night stay.
The area: Saint Gervasy is ideally located, close to Nimes, Avignon, Uzes, the Pont du Gard and many other wonderful old villages, towns and cities. Our favourite place was Uzes, which we visited on a Saturday to experience the market. We also took a trip to the coast via the Carmargue, fantastic!
Food: I can't finish this review without mentioning the food...Marianne is truly an amazing cook. We looked forward to breakfast each morning, complete with homemade jams, bread, fruit, yoghurt and a different homemade cake every day. I cannot fault it. Marianne cooked for us twice during our stay and these two meals were by far the best meals we had during our stay, I highly recommend you stay and eat at the accommodation!
All in all, we had a fabulous time. It was the prefect relaxing break we needed before the arrival of our first baby this summer. Our stay was made all the more special by the effort, attention to detail and warmth of our hosts and we hope to visit again next year with small one in tow! We really felt like we had stumbled across a hidden gem with this property and its hosts.
The accommodation was exactly as described, set in a great location just between a number of places to visit (Nimes, Uzes, Pont du Gard). Breakfast was provided every morning which included a number of breads, yoghurt, homemade jams, coffee and orange juice.
Maryanne was a great hostess providing ideas on the best places to visit, maps and is a wealth of knowledge of the area. She speaks both French and English and was very patient with my wife's conversational french. We stayed only four nights but wished we stayed longer.
A perfect place in a quiet location. The room was even better than described; very quiet. Only down side is that there are seriously not many restaurants around, so if staying 2 weeks you would get bored. But we stayed 6 nights and found new places to eat each day. Marianne is a lovely lady, very welcoming. The room is lovely and very welcoming. Looking for a place for a few days? Would thoroughly recommend!
