Alicudi is one of the eight islands that make up the Aeolian archipelago, a volcanic island chain north of Sicily. It is one of the most particular islands in the chain because there are no streets (only stone-paved tracks and stairs), no cars, and baggage and the shopping are carried by mules lead by the local boys who lives on the island. The island is filled with a magic tranquillity and simplicity. There are just two shops, one bar, and one restaurant. Dinners can be arranged in the homes of local fishermen (by appointment).
From the second half of July till the beginning of September the atmosphere changes a little, with the arrival of the people who have come for many years to the island. At sunset, after having spent the day at sea they all meet at the old dock to get a drink before returning to their homes uphill. For those who wish to participate, private parties (very open and informal) are sometimes organized as well as dancing by the seaside organized by the local youth.
Our home is situated high above the coast (15/20 minutes walking) and offers breathtaking views of the archipelago. The house is a traditional Aeolian home, featuring a long terrace that runs its full length. During the day, the view looks out onto the additional islands and at night, a full starry sky. All of the rooms look out onto the terrace, which in the summer months becomes the heart of daily activity. There are three bedrooms with full sized beds (one of them can be arranged with four single bed or two single and one full size bed) all offering sea views and one large bathroom. The kitchen is well loved and fully functional with a small gas stove, an electric oven and plenty of storage. All the rooms are decorated with lively colours and simple furnishings that reflect the natural surroundings. Next to the main house there is small stair that leads to two additional bedrooms and another terrace that runs the length of these two rooms. The house, which also includes a small garden with an outdoor shower that looks out onto the island of Filicudi. Our home has also been featured in the publication “New Seaside Interiors”, a book edited by Angelica Taschen (2008, TASCHEN, pp. 116-121).
Use water with attention: we are on a island!
Not drinkable water at home...
When you leave take down your garbage...
Very nice house, simple and beautiful as it is in the pictures or more. Giulia and Michaela help us with every single thing we needed, thanks again to both of you! We had peaceful and relaxing time there, very friendly local people and amazing landscape, we'll be back for sure!

boris and conny
We had a wonderful and magic stay at Giulia's house and we really fell in love with the breathless view on the archipelago. 5 days were to short to catch the ultimate spirit of the island…we would come back for sure and for a longer stay.
Thanks to Giulia, everything was just perfect...
Thanks to Michaela, who welcomed us on arrival, we were very happy to meet her ...
One of the most memorable locations and holidays ever., a truely wonderful home. The house was perfect for us and our friends. We spent most of the time on the terrace enjoying some of the best views I have ever encountered, every night the sunset was different.
The house is well organised and stocked and has everything you would need whilst on holiday there and more. We enjoyed one of the best meals of the holidays at one of the neighbours house who catered for 10 of us with 24 hours notice. The snorkelling in the clear waters was brilliant for all ages and we even managed a walk to the top of the island on one of the cooler days (wear long trousers - the paths are quite overgrown)
The booking process was easy and Giulia provided us with some very useful information before our arrival.
All in all an unforgettable stay.
Such an amazing experience to stay in Alicudi. The island has a humble beauty and the house is full of authentic Sicilian charm. Although the walk to the house is steep and hard work when it's hot, the view & silence from the top is WELL worth it and it ensures that you do nothing but relax once you have ventured home!
The house was well equipped for the entire family (including children). We enjoyed a (hard) walk to the top of the island one of the days which was beautiful to see how the landscape changes. We also enjoyed incredibly fresh seafood we bought from the fishermen at the port.
We had a great check-in & check-out process, especially with the mules who carried our luggage!
A truly special holiday for complete relaxation!
5 wonderful days! Perfetto.
Watch for Mosquitos
