The space
Mountaintop Ranch is a secluded ranch in the famous Blue Ridge Mountains that has been in the Cunningham Family for over 50 years.

Waking up in a log cabin is like waking up in a little slice of heaven everyday with few or no modern distractions. Leave your front door and walk outside to see nothing but trees and sense nothing but nature gives one a feeling of complete freedom and safety. An escape from city life and the cares of the world seem far behind.

Our picturesque trails pass through the high country, scenic mountain meadows and wooded areas of the famous Blue Ridge. The Ranch borders The Shenandoah National Park on 3 sides. You can take a 10 min. hike from the ranch and be within the boundaries of the remote regions of the National Park but it is a 30 min drive to the actual Park Entrance for vehicles.

We offer 2 cabins side by side of each other that can be rented together for larger groups. You can see both cabins by opening our Airbnb profile and clicking on the photo on the listing page. (The Skyline and The Eagle)

Authentic, rustic and primitive log cabins several decades old are very environmentally friendly. They are not insulated and do not use products like concrete or mortar. The experience of staying in a log cabin is unique and individual depending on the season and the month. The main heat source for a log cabin is a fireplace or wood stove which makes for some very cozy cold nights. We do also supply space heaters for colder months as an additional heat source.

Mountaintop Ranch is a rare and unique piece of property because it hosts a world class horse training facility with the most scenic views on the East Coast. Better than or on par with the Shenandoah National Park which shares its boundaries. We feel blessed to be able to share the Ranch with you. All are welcome here!

Please inquire about our privately guided horse back riding tours through this remarkable piece of property. The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Music would be an appropriate name for our most popular ride; The Sunset Ride. This ride allows you to view the sun as it reaches across the Mountain haze with a mix of reds, pinks, and gold as it intertwines with the Mountains. For a few minutes every night you know you're right where you need to be.

We also offer a variety of other activities and packages including, but not limited to: Guided Hike to the Falls, Custom Horseback Ride Tours, Skeet Shooting, Target Shooting, Fishing, S'Mores Packages, Late-Arrival Dinners, Proposal Packages, Romance Packages and more! Message us to add a package or activity during your stay.

Guest access
Guests have access to all 400 acres of the Ranch.
Because we are located high in the mountains, the cabins are unfortunately not wheel chair accessible. We recommend AWD for getting to the cabins but is not always necessary depending on road conditions.

Other things to note
One of the main perks of Mountaintop Ranch is its remote location and disconnect from worldly distractions. Each cabin has their individual internet service from Hughes Net.
The true luxury of the ranch is seclusion and the opportunity it offers for guests to unplug. Enjoy what the ranch and nature has to offer in the present moment.
