The space
The RETRO RANCHITO is a welcoming Mid-Century Jack Meiselman home less than a five-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride (four bikes for your use) to downtown Palm Springs shopping and restaurants! Don’t worry about traveling with your Vitamix blender, juicer, or your food processor, we have them here along with four yoga matts and bikes to cruise around Palm Springs. Watch the hummingbirds buzz overhead while lounging in the hammock under the Meyer Lemon tree. Sip your morning coffee, lazily looking out at the mountains on the outdoor daybed. Take a night swim and sit around the glow of the fire pit or indulge in a Netflix marathon with the LG smart HGTV in each bedroom which is individually climate controlled. Ready for dinner? Harvest dinner accompaniments from the organic garden.
The rear yard is where the pool/ spa/ outdoor shower is located, and it is very private and swimsuit optional! Enjoy picking from your own cocktail garden with your choice - Blood orange, Thai Lime, Mandarin, Spanish orange, or Meyer lemon which there is always something fresh growing in the garden!
Living room – Overlook the front yard and organic garden from the comfortable couch. Enough seating for everyone to sit and relax. local books and entertainment information, vintage board games.
Dining room – Open to the living room and kitchen, vintage family heirloom Danish mid-century modern dining set.
Kitchen- Full fridge with ice maker, gas vintage style stove and oven, dishwasher (Big Chill appliances), food dehydrator, Vitamix, twin gear juicer, food processor, tiny food processor – great for small salsa batches, French press, electric tea kettle, organic spices, oil, coffee, tea, utensils, reverse osmosis drinking water, separate vegan, vegetarian, and meat cutting boards, separate recycling container, ask about composting, original vintage 1950’s steel Youngstown kitchen cabinets.
Master bedroom- Relax in a queen bed with attached bathroom. The queen bed is dressed with organic sheets. The room opens through glass doors onto the private backyard where you can overlook the outdoor fireplace, pool, and spa from the bedroom. The master bath door has a convenience door for easy access to the bathroom directly from the pool area. Bathrooms supplied with natural bathing products and organic towels and robes. Smart HDTV is ready for you to log onto your Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc. --------- queen bed, organic sheets, garment rack and dresser, sliding glass doors to outdoor fireplace and spa, attached master bath with direct outdoor access, natural bathing products, organic towels, organic robes, and a Teak Squatty Potty!
Second bedroom- Glass doors open onto the backyard pool area. Smart TV with your personal app logon to watch on the organically dressed queen bed. The bathroom is just next to the bedroom with a full bath for soaking and plenty of storage for your particulars. We supply organic towels and organic robes as well as natural bathing products and a Teak Squatty Potty! - if you are unfamiliar with Squatty Potty you must watch the videos, they are quality laugh - search it
Heat/ A/C – Each room has its own Fujitsu Halcyon DC inverter mini split climate controls for your specific comfort.

Outdoors – Lay back and choose from many comfortable lounging options in the front and back yards, all with amazing mountain views. Landscaped for sustainability and balanced for wellbeing. Fire up the BBQ and enjoy your meal at the outdoor dining area. Enjoy the year round pool – cool in the summer and heated in the winter (optional). Sit around the gas outdoor fireplace and warm up after a dip in the water while watching the Tram lights on Mt. San Jacinto. Pets- We travel with our dogs and believe the best pet parents are those who vacation with their dogs. (It is even ok to leave your dogs while you go out and enjoy the town. They really just want to nap anyway.) We allow dogs, but please pick up after them – waste bags are provided. Please keep them off the furniture and plan accordingly for your pet's comfort. There is not an extra dog fee. If your dog leaves a mess or damages anything, we will take the damages out of your security deposit. Yard space for playing and potty time, waste bags supplied.
COVID-19- Aside from our regular cleaning, we have started a strict sanitizing curriculum, and we are part of Airbnb's strict enhanced cleaning/ sanitizing program. Please ask if you have any specific questions about this! We are more than happy to fill you in.
Allergies- We have concrete floors. We clean with natural plant-based cleaners. All linen is laundered with lavender essential oil and a plant-based natural soap on the highest temperature setting. To keep allergens down, please don't use perfume, cologne, scented body sprays, or hairspray inside the house out of respect for the following guests who may be arriving after you and are sensitive.
Laundry – washer and dryer available and a clothes line.
Accessibility -5 ½” step and thresholds to enter the house via all exterior doors, front door is 35” wide, glass sliders are almost 3’ wide at the door opening, master bath has 3” step up to shower, bathroom doors are 23 ½ “ wide, master bathroom has 1” step up into the room. Bed room doors are 28” wide, one side of each bed has extra space to enter and exit the bed.
TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY HOTEL TAX ("TOT")- The City of Palm Springs requires an 11.5% Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT). This tax will be collected at the time of booking.

IT IS A PRIVATE, stand-alone home. It's all yours to enjoy! The entire yard and house are yours. Bring your birthday suits. That’s all you need if that is what you desire. It is super private, with a Pool, Firepit, hot tub, Wi-Fi, pool floats, towels, kitchen amenities, outdoor shower, bikes, and other listed amenities.
A couple of storage spaces, including the garage, are locked.
Other things to note
ALL ARE WELCOME HERE - Retro Ranchito is a conscious and accepting retreat home. We welcome you regardless of your gender, race, sexual orientation, spiritual practices, nationality, or any other characteristic. You are you, and we love you for it.
We heat the pool complimentary for five months out of the year to 86 degrees from May to October. During the winter months of November through April, we DO NOT automatically heat the pool unless requested by a guest. To help offset the cost of winter pool heating, we charge $70 per day. It takes approximately two hours to heat the pool, so please request pool heating in advance. The hot tub is heated complimentary year-round to 104 degrees unless you request a lower temperature.
Maintenance Schedule:
The pool is maintained on Tuesdays and Fridays, generally in the late afternoon.
The garbage service comes on Tuesday early in the morning. Keep trash cans in place; the garbage concierge will come to get them from the side yard.
The gardeners visit the house late in the morning/ early afternoon on Wednesdays to maintain the landscape.
We are child-friendly but not childproof. The pool has sharp metal edges and no plug protectors, and it is NOT fenced off from the rest of the yard. We offer a pack-and-play and a high chair, but do not have child safety protections in place in or around the house, so plan accordingly if you're traveling with a child 🍼
