I purchased this little 672 sq ft historic beauty, converted in 1930 from a train car to a house, in June 2019. On warm nights you can commune in the back yard under string lighting and on chilly ones cozy up with a blanket in front of the gas fireplace. 100% dog-friendly!

The space
From the front, the home looks like it could fit in a thimble; inside, it opens up and is airy, simple, and lovely. It’s still a little rough in places- peeling wallpaper behind the stove, etc., but I am slowly polishing up this petite, historic space.

The master bedroom has a full-sized bed, and the living room has both a queen and a twin sleeper sofas. The bathroom is off the master bedroom; note that to get to it, you’ll need to walk through that room.

The kitchen is fully outfitted with appliances (oven/range, fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, waffle maker, pour-over coffee filter and holder, and basics (spices, oil, butter, coffee, tea, utensils, bakeware/cookware, etc.).

There is a bathtub and shower in the newly renovated bathroom, and basics like towels, washcloths, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shampoo, tampons, pads, etc.

I have a washer/dryer, detergent/dryer sheets, a clothes steamer, as well as a clothesline out back.

The home is heated by a new gas fireplace; the previous one sufficiently warmed it for decades, but there is also a tabletop space heater should you need it.

If you’re bringing a dog friend or two, I have a dog bed, tie-out, 3-gallon water dispenser, food bowl, bottomless biscuits, and usually pupsicles in the freezer in the summertime. Upon booking you’ll receive some pup-friendly recommendations approved of by the bull terrier-in-residence, Tater Tot.

I want my home to be as comfortable for you as possible; during or after your stay I’d appreciate feedback as to what you loved and what I could have done better!

Where you’ll be

Missoula, Montana, United States

You’ll be 5 minutes from vibrant downtown Missoula, farmers’ market, the Clark Fork River, and no more than a 12 min drive from the university and almost anywhere else in town, and also enjoy the peace of a residential, tree-lined street and longtime, quiet homeowner neighbors on either side.

There is a gas station just a few blocks away, a wonderful grocery store called Fresh Market a half mile away, and a climbing gym right down the street.

If you’re bringing your smaller counterparts, West Side Park is a fabulous and nearby playground and splash pad, McCormick Park is also wonderful and not far, and the Clark Fork Natural Area is a delightful, accessible way to splash around in the river and see critters. The carousel is a must-see (and must-ride!) and has a lovely playground attached. Big Dipper Ice Cream is not far and six out of five stars.

I can also give you more child-related activities and tips; let me know and I’ll hook you up!
