Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Easy walk down a public trail to Short Beach! Ocean views, a wood burning fireplace and a large private deck with a hot tub make this renovated mid-century beach house an ideal spot for any season! Perched above the beach at the edge of a forest, this home is just right for Pacific Northwest coastal get-away for families or small groups of friends.

Easy 1 mile drive to Oceanside Village and beach; or 1 mile north to Cape Meares State Park. #851-19-000078-STVR

The space
With ocean views, the livingroom, kitchen and dining areas of the 4 bed/ 2 bath home are on the upper level to maximize light and views. The large private deck is a perfect place to gather with Adirondack chairs, a hot tub (available year-round) and a gas BBQ grill available Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The home has been selectively renovated with many of the original features preserved, and furnished with a nod to mid-century beach hotel aesthetic.

There is one queen bedroom with a forest view upstairs, 2 queen bedrooms with peek ocean views downstairs, and a twin bunk room with forest view. Max 8 guests including kids.

The Surfside is the north unit of a spacious 4-bed/2-bath duplex (town house configuration) on a quiet coastal residential street.

Guest access
Entire home and private deck, except for garage

Other things to note
+ No more than 8 total guests including kids, no parties (quiet time at 10pm) and no pets (sorry no exceptions here!)

+ Bunk beds are suitable for guests under 175 lbs.

+ Temperatures at the coast rarely rise above the 70's, but on the rare warm days you'll need to manage the operable windows and doors, fans and window shades to stay comfortable, and let the cool night air in while you sleep. 60's style :)

+ Your reservation will include a one-time cleaning and hot tub fee; for stays 1 week or longer we will manually add a fee of 125/ week for cleaning as well as hot tub maintenance. I will process a manual payment request for additional cleaning if you book 7 nights or more.

Neighborhood highlights

The neighborhood has the uniquely Oregon beauty of the ocean and the forest, with birds, deer, rabbits and elk wandering through. Short Beach, known as "Agate Beach" to the locals, is one of the best kept secrets. The public beach is accessed by a short trail of wooden steps and board walks. At low tide, you can walk north along the beach to experience 2 waterfalls and sandy beaches (rocky beach only at high tide) along with haystack rock formations.

Oceanside Village is less than 1 mile away, featuring a large sandy public beach, 2 good restaurants & a coffee shop, plus post office and fire station - that's about the extents of sleepy Oceanside and why it makes a great place to recharge! Nearby Cape Meares, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda state parks offer hiking and nature exploration, or try your hand at crabbing or clam digging in nearby Netarts or Tillamook Bay. For the adventurous set, there is decent surfing, or even a parasailing launch site. Or just curl and and read (or write) a book while taking in the view.

My work: Architect
Lives in Portland, Oregon
I'm a designer based in Portland Oregon, marginal singer of karaoke, climber and distance runner. I love to explore the pacific northwest and more distant places, sometimes with my 2 amazing kids and sometimes without. As a guest, depending on the host and situation I could enjoy chatting it up over a beer or coffee, or just tend to my own exploration. I'm pretty good at reading people and making the best of it.
