Our modern guesthouse is situated in the quiet village of Kirkmichael. We are ideally positioned for you to explore the great outdoors, there are some wonderful walks right on the doorstep and we are within 25 minutes of the Cairngorms National Park, Glenshee, and Pitlochry.

Our space (inside and out) is vegan so we ask you to respect our beliefs and the animals that reside here and not to bring or consume any animal products on our property.

The space
The guesthouse consists of a bedroom with a king sized double bed, a cosy living area with large windows looking out onto the surrounding fields as well as a comfortable sofa bed, a small but modern bathroom, and a kitchenette with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, dining table, and V60 coffee maker.

As mentioned the whole space (both indoors and outdoors) is vegan. The kitchenette is stocked with oat milk, loose leaf tea, and coffee.

Our garden is a haven for wildlife and we enjoy watching red squirrels, rabbits, deer, and pheasants enjoying the garden. We are a working sanctuary so we are often in the outside areas caring for our rescued sheep between 6am and 10pm. If you would like to visit the sheep this needs to be pre-arranged at the time of booking.

We have a fire pit where you can have a fire. You will need to bring your own wood, matches / lighter, and newspaper to light a fire but you can also burn any twigs / fallen branches you find around the place. The fire pit can also be used as a spot for a disposable barbecue! There is a small wild garden area out the back of the guesthouse, it has a picnic bench and a chimnea, the space itself is only for guest use but it is next to a path we use regularly and buildings we are often in and out of.

The guesthouse is vegan owned and operated (I’ve been vegan for 17 years) and we try to be as eco friendly as possible. We are powered by renewable energy (let us know if you need to charge your car!), our tea is loose leaf and we provide vegan and eco friendly shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and washing up liquid. We sourced the art for the walls from independent artists and designers and purchased some of our furniture second hand. We also wanted everything to be high quality so our sofa bed is from the luxury British sofa company Willow and Hall and our sheets and towels are Fair Trade organic cotton.

We are LGBTQIA+ friendly.

The guesthouse is equipped with a hairdryer and hangers. An iron and ironing board are available on request.

This is a no smoking guesthouse both inside and on the surrounding grounds.

Breakfast is not included in your stay but welcome baked goods are provided.

Neighborhood highlights

Kirkmichael is a cute quiet village ideally located in the gateway to the highlands with easy access to local walks both short and long as well as to the Cateran Trail, one of Scotland’s Great Trails, and the Cairngorms National Park where you can walk, hike, kayak or ski depending on the season.

The village has two local pubs and there is also a local shop.

Other areas of interest include:
- Pitlochry where vegan travellers will find cafes and restaurants with vegan options as well as the infamous Gregg’s vegan sausage roll! 25 minute drive
- Dunkeld and Birnam, two picturesque villages located on the banks of the River Tay. You can visit The Birnam Oak made famous by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, have a drink by the river, or dine at one of the many vegan friendly establishments.
- We are also an hour from both Perth and Dundee where you will find museums, shops, gig venues, and vegan cafes.

After spending three and a half years travelling the world with my partner Nick we moved to Scotland to put down some roots. Our dream for our place in Scotland is to renovate our outbuildings sustainably, to grow our own vegetables and eventually to rescue some farmed animals once we have a sustainable business. We’re trying to create an eco vegan haven in the countryside! As a guest I’m pretty mellow. I enjoy walking and hiking & I'm much more likely to be found reading a book than doing anything resembling partying!
