Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Our guesthouse is minutes from the interstate, but you'll swear that you've traveled far out in "God's country." Surrounded by many Amish neighbors, we are centrally located to Cooperstown, Howe Caverns, the Southern Adirondacks, Saratoga, Albany, Utica, and the Mohawk Valley (all within an hour's drive or less.) Enjoy a quiet retreat far off the road with authentic Amish furniture and decor and modern conveniences (washer & dryer, dishwasher, Keurig, AC/Heat, WiFi and streaming TV.)

The space
The house was completed in February 2017. It is approximately 36’x36’. Guests frequently say that it “looks bigger than the pictures.” Our goal in setting up the cabin is to provide a quiet country retreat where people can relax in between their travels or as a home base to visit area attractions. The furniture and decor reflect the area--an Amish community, the Adirondacks, the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the beautiful night sky here at our home far from any city lights. There is a "figure 8" walking trail on the property and a back field with amazing sunsets.

Guest access
The guesthouse is technically attached to the main home but is a separate home with a private entrance. Access is through keyless entry.

Other things to note
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

-Check-in time is 3 PM or after on weekends, holidays, and all of July and August. Otherwise, it is 5 PM or after. (We both work in schools, so we need the extra two hours to get the guesthouse ready between any guests that stay on weekdays.)

COOPERSTOWN & BASEBALL TOURNAMENTS
-The Hall of Fame is 31 miles/45 min. drive.
-Cooperstown Dreams Park is 38 miles/54 min.
-All Star Village is 52 miles/80 min.
We have had many families stay with us for tournaments at Dreams Park, but All Star Village is likely too far from our location, especially for families having to drive back-and-forth over four or five days.

-Although our listing says that we do not permit pets, we will usually allow them IF GUESTS ASK PERMISSION FIRST.

-We can sometimes accommodate early check ins or late checkouts. Just ask us ahead of time.

Neighborhood highlights

Expect to see a horse and buggy (or 3...or 10) during your stay. There are at least four Amish communities nearby, all of which sell seasonal produce and other goods. We are 4+ miles north of Canajoharie/Fort Plain (a town with restaurants, a museum, a pub, a drive-in theater, antique stores, a coffee/tea house, and a bike path. It is situated in the Mohawk River and Valley which has many ties to Colonial American history. Thirty miles to our south is the world-renowned National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. We are also near Howe Caverns and at least three Herkimer Diamond mining sites. Ten miles to our north is the majesty of the Adirondack Mountains. Travel an hour northeast and you'll find the cultural and horseracing excitement of Saratoga. Spend a day galivanting or stay at the cottage and enjoy the peace of living in the country.
