The cabin is an 8-bed cabin with three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. There are bunk beds installed in all the bedrooms, and a sofa bed is in the living room. The cottage is remotely and idyllically located along one of the many paddle and bicycle routes in the district. The cabin is built and used primarily as a hunting lodge and carries the mark of simple and practical use. The use of the canoe and a free fishing license is included in the rent.

The space
This is the place if you are looking to connect with nature and enjoy a bit of simple living in the heart of Telemark. The cabin is an 8-bed cottage with three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. There are bunk beds installed in all the bedrooms, and a sofa bed is in the living room. The cottage is remotely and idyllically located along one of the many paddle and bicycle routes in the district.

There are excellent conditions for fishing in the lake. The trout in the water are not large, but they are easy to catch if you bring simple fishing gear for freshwater fish. This area has abundant wildlife, and there is a good chance to spot both beavers and moose, especially early in the morning and late in the evening along the water's edge if you move quietly.

The cabin has its own canoe, and you can find it by the cabin. The lakes in the area are connected, and it is great to explore the area and paddle between the lakes changing from narrow passages and open water to small streams.

Where you’ll be

Drangedal, Telemark, Norway

There are beautiful cycling and hiking routes nearby, and it is a perfect place for fishing and canoeing.

The area has an abundance of wildlife and there is a good chance to spot both beavers and moose. The best time of the day to spot these animals are in the morning and late evenings. We recommend paddling the canoe in the evening to spot the animals at the water's edge. We also recommend taking your car and drive along the many gravel roads on a private “Moose Safari.”

We can also recommend “The Telemark Canal,” “The Troll Car,” and other historical sites only 15-30 minutes' drive from the cabin. You can find additional information in the tourist information folder provided in the cabin.

Less than one hour to the south, you will find Kragerø, a gem on Norway’s coastline.

The UNESCO heritage site of Rjukan is less than two hours away. Here you will also find the famous Gaustadtoppen mountain with its amazing views.

Alternative fun activities for children

Hulfjell Gård is a 20 minutes’ drive away from the cabin. This is a small “visit farm” with a variety of animals and a fun waterpark. My neighbor Jon Halvor runs this farm, and he provides an extra 10% discount if you say you stay at “Fredrik’s AirBnB.” (www.hulfjell.no)

Telemark Sommarland in Bø is a 40 minutes’ drive away from the cabin. This is Norway’s largest waterpark and has a variety of waterslides and activities. (sommarland.no)
