Our cool and comfortable 2 bedrooms apartment has an incredible view over Lake Geneva, the vineyards of Lavaux (UNESCO world heritage) and the Alps. It has a garden. Only 45 min. from Geneva Airport, 25 min. from ski slopes, 2 hours from Zermatt.
A cute flat for 4 people, with 2 bedrooms (2 beds in each), a dining room, a well equipped kitchen, a shower and a toilet, overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps, located in a vineyard in the heart of the Lavaux vineyard terraces, famous World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO. Quiet situation. Just 10 minutes by car from Montreux (15 by train), 20 minutes from Lausanne, 45 minutes from Geneva airport, 2 hrs from Zermatt, 20 min from Lausanne and 20 min from the Alps. An ideal base camp for excursions in Switzerland. 5 minutes by foot and you reach the lakeshore where you can have nice swims in summertime. If you are more than 4 people, up to 6 people, you can rent both flats together. We also have a suite in the main building of our wine resort. Total : 8 beds dispatched in 3 different accomodations on the same resort.
This flat is called "Côté Léman" and it's on the 1st floor of an old renewed house with 2 appartments for guests.
This flat has 2 bedrooms with 2 beds in each room + a little dining room (a round table, 4 chairs) + a TV, which you can use as your office if you need a table to work. The flat has its own shower, bathroom-sink, WC, and its own kitchenette with table + 4 chairs. In the access hall to your flat, you will find a corner with a coffee machine and a kettle for our guests (this is included in the room price) + tea bags in self-service.
Le Domaine du Burignon (name of our place) is a small paradise. You can lie on long-chairs in the garden, go for nice walks around our place without a car, have a glass of wine on the terrace. One thing is clear for all our visitors : it would be a pity to stay just for one night ! That's why the minimum stay is 2 nights.
We have a baby-travel-bed you can borrow on request. WiFi, independent entrance, garden, terrace, you can buy and have a bottle of wine, since you are among winemakers. Pets not allowed. No smoking. On request, breakfast served in our reception hall or on its balcony in summer time. Price: 15.-/person. A rich breakfast with yogurts, eggs, different kinds of bread, butter, home made jam, local cheese and ham, fruit, grape juice (from our vineyards), milk, tea, coffee.
One can have breakfast in the reception hall. The garden in front of the flats is for our guests. There is a coffee machine, a kettle and tea-bags always available for our guests. Coffee capsules are offered, cream and sugar of course also.
It has a magnificent view on Lake Geneva, the Alps, France and the vineyards. The situation is quiet, in the middle of the countryside. The Chillon Castle is only 10 minutes away from here. In summertime, you can walk to the lake (5 min) and swim. A hop and you get to the beach of St-Saphorin Lavaux, or 15 minutes to reach the beach of Rivaz, the next village in the direction of Lausanne. The closest shop is in Vevey (10 minutes walk + 4 minutes train - one train every hour) or in Chexbres, that you can reach in 3 minutes by car. There are 3 restaurants accessible by foot in the area. One very fine and one very good and reasonable price in St-Saphorin Lavaux. And another quite famous italian restaurant is in the next village, 20 minutes walk from our place, in Rivaz.
Interaction with Guests
I will welcome you and give you advice about what to see in the close area, explain how the coffee machine works, tell you about how to join me if you need to, and how to go around by foot. There is a reduction pass coming with your room, for everything you'd like to visit in the area of Montreux-Vevey. If eventually I was not in the place, you'd receive all the useful information per email. There is a bottle of our wine awaiting you in the kitchen. Our welcome gift.
Nice walks in the area, in a great landscape. You can also go by bike, or go with a stroller, because the paths made for winemakers, are made of concrete. If you like wine, we have different kinds. Just ask us for a bottle.
You should not miss the Castle of Chillon, one of the jewels of the area. Close to that is the Freddy Mercury monument in Montreux, on the lakeshore.
It is NOT necessary to have a car if you visit us. If you have a car, you can park it along the road in front of the main house of the wine resort. Free parking. Try to arrive with daylight, and take our GPS data. We'll give them to you per email.
Otherwise, it is easy to take a train and arrive at the station of Vevey, where you'll take a taxi, that will drop you at Domaine du Burignon in about 5-10 min (for about 25.- chf.). If your luggage is not too big and heavy, I advise that you take a train to the station of St-Saphorin Lavaux, and climb up the hill to our place. No signs on the way. Just uphill and slightly to the right. You should see the house after 7 min. The path is incredibly beautiful (it's like taking off on a plane) and truly, on some parts, very steep. Any normal person in a normally good health can handle it however. And then you'll deserve your stay :-)
After arrival, you can easily come and go by train to Vevey, Montreux, Lausanne, Genève or wherever. The train station is 10 min walk from our place. There's a train every hour in both directions (Lausanne and Montreux) from 6 am to midnight.
Other Things to Note
It would be a pity to stay for only one night. That's what all of our guests say! Try to stay at least for 2 nights. There's so much to do in the close surroundings and to see in the area.
If you don't walk easily or are somehow disabled with your leggs, this place might not be convenient to you. Lots of stairs, lots of slopes. This is Lavaux!
Children are entirely under their parents' responsibility.
A blue ashtray outside by the bench on the balcony awaits the ashes of the smokers among our guests. It is totally forbidden to smoke cigarettes or anything else inside all the buildings of the resort.
Just ask us if you want another bottle of wine of the Domaine (17.-/bottle). Coffee and tea from the "coffee corner" in your flat are included in the price of the room.
There is no such thing as an additional bed (except for babies or children under 9 years old - who can sleep in their parents' bed). The flats are made for 4 people. If there are more than 4 guests, then you may ask for a second flat.
If the kitchen has been used, that means the stove, the oven and the fridge, those devices have to be cleaned up by the guests before they leave. The dishes with which the guests have eaten or drunk have to be washed up AND put back at their original place by the guests before they leave.
Except for the kitchen, the cleaning of the rest of the flat will be done by the hosts. No additional fee for that.
Pets, and in particular dogs, are not allowed on the property.
This apartment is in an amazing location to explore the villages, the vin yards and the lake. Perfect for many walks and driving. Anne was helpful and accommodating. The apartment was a good size for 4 people, however it was unusual to not have a bathroom door and this is also adjoining to the kitchen. Therefore privacy can be an issue, however Anne was helpful in providing a temporary solution. The description of the apartment from Anne states that guests will receive a bottle of wine on arrival. We didn't and being a wine lover it would have been nice, even to do a wine taste would have added to the experience and memory of this place.
Hello Lauren. Thank you for comment. Why didn't you ask for your bottle of wine? Too bad, I must have forgotten to stick it in your fride. Always better to talk about things on the place rather than to be disappointed and write about them... but too late :) Also, we can recommend nice places for wine tastings when we don't have the time for it! Finale, I will solve that privacy problem in the shower of the flat in January 2015. Thank you for letting us know how important it was for you.
I'm Jessica's (now!) fiance and I'm writing this review, because Anne and the other staff at the Domaine du Burignon airbnb far exceeded expectations.
We stayed for a weekend and shared a 2-bedroom with her parents and, unbeknownst to them, I was going to propose on Sunday morning! The b&b sits among the terraced hills in St Saphorin, about a 10 minute walk uphill from the train station. It's an incline, but worth every step to enjoy the views!
The lodging is very cozy, inviting, and spacious. The rooms are clean and amenable, and the kitchen was an added bonus (so was the complimentary bottle of wine)! We cooked a pasta dinner the second night after eating in town the first evening.
Anne and co. were nice enough to give us recommendations in and around town for restaurants, markets, and sights. I highly suggest eating breakfast in the b&b too -- the spread was fresh and generous.
This place will always have a special place in our heart... we woke up early Sunday morning in November to a beautiful sunshine and the best view of Lake Geneva (and the Alps) we saw all weekend. I had arranged for a stretch limousine to surprise Jessica and her parents, but had to secretly ask Anne and her coworkers for a lot of help coordinating logistics all weekend.
With big smiles and no hesitation, they allowed me to give their phone numbers to the limo driver (since I don't speak French), they gave him directions on where to park, they provided a bottle of sparking white wine on ice for our ride, and everything turned out better than I would've ever thought.
Many thanks to Domaine du Burignon for your attention to detail and a special touch. We'll be back!
Anne was an absolutely wonderful guest. The apartment was very clean and spacious, not to mention the gorgeous view! And in the morning we had a beautiful breakfast with yummy local products.
Anne is wonderful. The place is absolutely wonderful. DO NOT follow (website hidden) maps or Apple maps. It will put you on the VERY tiny, skinny road above the villa. Find it on one of the map programs and drive it carefully for the right turn to come out below where there is ample parking (many spaces). Very sweet stay. We only had a quick night and Anne was wonderful. Breakfast was great as well.
We had a wonderful time. Anne's apartment was comfortable and well furnished. It was a little hard to time since it's not on the GPS, but Anne was super helpful. We had a lovely walk in the area. Only wish we could have stayed there longer!
This is a very unique traveling experience for me, living in a vineyard with stunning lake and vineyard view. My friends were all amazed by the the pictures I showed in my (website hidden)'s friends circles. My friend and I shared a 2 room apt. The room are clean and comfortable with a window from which you can see the outside lake view and the sky. I hope to come back soon.
What a lovely place to stay! Anne was a wonderful host, very welcoming and helpful, especially when we got lost trying to find the place. There was a lovely bottle of red waiting for us when we arrived, and Anne was very forthcoming with helpful tips on things to do in the area. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area!
Top tip is to use the instructions Anne sends you to find the place, because the GPS will take you to the wrong place.
