Castle in the hill. Stunning view 1

Bed & Breakfast - Entire home/apt · Route Cantonale Vevey-Forel Lavaux, Chardonne, Vaud 1071, Switzerland

Our cool and comfortable 2 bedrooms apartment has an incredible view over Lake Geneva, the vineyards of Lavaux (UNESCO world heritage) and the Alps. It has a garden. Only 45 min. from Geneva Airport, 25 min. from ski slopes, 2 hours from Zermatt.

The Space

A cute flat for 4 people, with 2 bedrooms (2 beds in each), a dining room, a well equipped kitchen, a shower and a toilet, overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps, located in a vineyard in the heart of the Lavaux vineyard terraces, famous World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO. Quiet situation. Just 10 minutes by car from Montreux (15 by train), 20 minutes from Lausanne, 45 minutes from Geneva airport, 2 hrs from Zermatt, 20 min from Lausanne and 20 min from the Alps. An ideal base camp for excursions in Switzerland. 5 minutes by foot and you reach the lakeshore where you can have nice swims in summertime. If you are more than 4 people, up to 6 people, you can rent both flats together. We also have a suite in the main building of our wine resort. Total : 8 beds dispatched in 3 different accomodations on the same resort.

This flat is called "Côté Léman" and it's on the 1st floor of an old renewed house with 2 appartments for guests.

This flat has 2 bedrooms with 2 beds in each room + a little dining room (a round table, 4 chairs) + a TV, which you can use as your office if you need a table to work. The flat has its own shower, bathroom-sink, WC, and its own kitchenette with table + 4 chairs. In the access hall to your flat, you will find a corner with a coffee machine and a kettle for our guests (this is included in the room price) + tea bags in self-service.

Le Domaine du Burignon (name of our place) is a small paradise. You can lie on long-chairs in the garden, go for nice walks around our place without a car, have a glass of wine on the terrace. One thing is clear for all our visitors : it would be a pity to stay just for one night ! That's why the minimum stay is 2 nights.

We have a baby-travel-bed you can borrow on request. WiFi, independent entrance, garden, terrace, you can buy and have a bottle of wine, since you are among winemakers. Pets not allowed. No smoking. On request, breakfast served in our reception hall or on its balcony in summer time. Price: 15.-/person. A rich breakfast with yogurts, eggs, different kinds of bread, butter, home made jam, local cheese and ham, fruit, grape juice (from our vineyards), milk, tea, coffee.

Guest Access

One can have breakfast in the reception hall. The garden in front of the flats is for our guests. There is a coffee machine, a kettle and tea-bags always available for our guests. Coffee capsules are offered, cream and sugar of course also.

It has a magnificent view on Lake Geneva, the Alps, France and the vineyards. The situation is quiet, in the middle of the countryside. The Chillon Castle is only 10 minutes away from here. In summertime, you can walk to the lake (5 min) and swim. A hop and you get to the beach of St-Saphorin Lavaux, or 15 minutes to reach the beach of Rivaz, the next village in the direction of Lausanne. The closest shop is in Vevey (10 minutes walk + 4 minutes train - one train every hour) or in Chexbres, that you can reach in 3 minutes by car. There are 3 restaurants accessible by foot in the area. One very fine and one very good and reasonable price in St-Saphorin Lavaux. And another quite famous italian restaurant is in the next village, 20 minutes walk from our place, in Rivaz.

Interaction with Guests

I will welcome you and give you advice about what to see in the close area, explain how the coffee machine works, tell you about how to join me if you need to, and how to go around by foot. There is a reduction pass coming with your room, for everything you'd like to visit in the area of Montreux-Vevey. If eventually I was not in the place, you'd receive all the useful information per email. There is a bottle of our wine awaiting you in the kitchen. Our welcome gift.

The Neighborhood

Nice walks in the area, in a great landscape. You can also go by bike, or go with a stroller, because the paths made for winemakers, are made of concrete. If you like wine, we have different kinds. Just ask us for a bottle.

You should not miss the Castle of Chillon, one of the jewels of the area. Close to that is the Freddy Mercury monument in Montreux, on the lakeshore.

Getting around

It is NOT necessary to have a car if you visit us. If you have a car, you can park it along the road in front of the main house of the wine resort. Free parking. Try to arrive with daylight, and take our GPS data. We'll give them to you per email.

Otherwise, it is easy to take a train and arrive at the station of Vevey, where you'll take a taxi, that will drop you at Domaine du Burignon in about 5-10 min (for about 25.- chf.). If your luggage is not too big and heavy, I advise that you take a train to the station of St-Saphorin Lavaux, and climb up the hill to our place. No signs on the way. Just uphill and slightly to the right. You should see the house after 7 min. The path is incredibly beautiful (it's like taking off on a plane) and truly, on some parts, very steep. Any normal person in a normally good health can handle it however. And then you'll deserve your stay :-)
After arrival, you can easily come and go by train to Vevey, Montreux, Lausanne, Genève or wherever. The train station is 10 min walk from our place. There's a train every hour in both directions (Lausanne and Montreux) from 6 am to midnight.

Other Things to Note

It would be a pity to stay for only one night. That's what all of our guests say! Try to stay at least for 2 nights. There's so much to do in the close surroundings and to see in the area.
If you don't walk easily or are somehow disabled with your leggs, this place might not be convenient to you. Lots of stairs, lots of slopes. This is Lavaux!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Airrived at Domain Du Burignon on Oct 4th and stayed until Oct 12th 2013. Since there were five in our party we rented both of the flats and they were perfect. Anne was delightful, and the perfect hostess. Can't say enough about how beautiful this working winery is, we could have just stayed on the property all week drinking the Swiss Chasselas and Merlot wines and enjoying the scenery. but we forced ourselves to visit the surrounding towns, castles, cathedrals, chocolate factory and of course shopping in Vevey and Lausanne. Of course, our group still managed to consume about 4 bottles of their excellent wine each day. The breakfast is excellent with a good variety of fruits, yogurts, breads, cheese, juice, and coffee or tea to choose from.
We rented a car and found driving in Switzerland easy with well marked roads and courteous drivers. If you want to experience the beauty of Switzerland without the congestion and noise of the big cities then Domain Du Burignon is where to stay. We certainly will stay there on our next trip to Switzerland.

  • Anne's place is absolutely incredible.Even better, she is a great host. The area is wonderful to get away, and absolutely breath-taking. She gave wonderful recommendations for restaurants, and made an amazing breakfast with very fresh ingredients from the area. The apartment was very clean, and nicely designed. The view from the winery was amazing. Make sure to bring some great shoes, as you will be walking a lot in this hidden paradise! Will definitely be back.

  • When we arrived at Anne's place we got impressed from the stunning view, really beatiful place! Then anne was supernice, gave us a bottle of wine from the area as welcome, explain everything and gave us suggestions on what to do. Definitely a place where we would go back!!

  • One has to see it to believe it! This is a very romantic location. The views are breathtaking, the wine delicious and the walks enchanting.
I never had the privilege to meet Anne, as she was on vacation, but the young girl who was there in her stead made us feel quite welcome.
The particular apartment my family stayed in lacked a living room or dining room. So, it was beds or barstools, but since we were out most of the day it didn't bother us. The construction is SOLID and the guests upstairs could barely be heard. The decor is very basic, with the only thing on the walls being some coat hooks and a few small unframed pictures. The kitchen is small and lacks a dishwasher, but does have a small fridge and most things one would need to make a basic meal. The stove is gas and requires you to use matches.
Of the above I have to admit only the bare decor disappointed me. These are small things and the positives FAR outweigh any of my little nitpickings. Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY, in fact I am planning on it. :-)

  • the beautiful view of the lake and wine garden worth all the long way there. next time we'll of course stay longer!

  • Absolutely fantastic! I was a bit speechless with the whole experience of arriving at St. Saphorin train station and walking up the ancient vineyard paths to the chateau. Anne & Luc are lovely hosts, the apartment is ridiculously nice, their wine is fantastic, and the breakfast was great! I was only able to stay one night, but I plan to return for longer some day.

  • It was breathtaking and wonderful stay in the Lavaux region. Better to taxi from Vevey as suggested by Anne as the walk from St. Saphorin train station require energy esp when with big baggages. The place is very clean, quiet, and every well-equipped. We love the small fully equipped kitchen.

It is quite steep climbing from St Saphorin train station to the place, but we loved it. We loved walking through the small ancient village of St Saphorin, up through the vineyard and the castle. It is a good exercise with beautiful scenery of the terraced vineyards and Lake Geneva.

    Anne is nice and easy.

If ever we come to Switzerland again, we will definitely stay here.

    Thanks, Anne.
