This 1917 4-square Farm house will take you back to the old days. Located on our 700+ acre working cattle farm, you may pull up and see one of our beloved bovines standing in the yard! The grass is always greenier on the other side you know. Views of the parkway, the cattle and farm from most of the windows in the home.

French country flare with a sprinkle of comfy and cozy!

Towels, sheets, fuzzy blankets, coffee, and a complimentary pack of our grass fed burger welcomes you to Old Red.

The space
We are conveniently located 5 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Close to hiking, biking, tubing and so much more. 30 minutes from Natural Bridge and Safari Zoo. 45 minutes from Lynchburg. 30 minutes to Roanoke. 10 minute drive to Peaks of Otter and Sharp Top. 20 minutes to the D-day memorial.

Guest access
The entire house! The porch, the yard, and the amazing views! Sip your coffee on the porch and listen to the cows speak their language. Wake up in the morning and peek out about any window and see the bovines grazing. The Luck family cemetery is within eye shot of Old Red. Due to social distancing we are not permitting cemetery tours currently. Please do not go in the fences. There’s a 100+ year old dogwood tree inside the fence of the graveyard. Hope you can catch it as it’s blooming! There is a children’s playroom as well as a fenced in back yard for the kids to romp.

We will consider pets with an additional pet fee of $95 for up to a 5 day stay. Extra Cleaning is added after a pet stay.

As you see in some of the pictures there is a fire pit and a wood burning fireplace.

Other things to note
This is a historical OLD home. It isn't perfect. Farm life can be unpredictable! It can be smelly. Internet service can be unpredictable as is cell phone service. The Old Red Inn was remodeled with the intent to keep as much original features as possible. You will notice some of the doorways are crooked (in a charming fashion). Water pressure can be low. Oh and by the way...it is WELL water...not city water! You might pull into the driveway and see a cow standing in the yard..this is not the norm, however bovines are curious! At night, bugs love to hang around the outdoor lights.

4 child sized sleeping bags available as well as a luxury twin air matress....I can squeeze in a queen if necessary but makes the Sage bedroom tight.

I provide all linens, trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher pods, laundry pods, coffee, dry creamer, sugar, splenda, hand soap, shampoo and wifi. Paper towels/toilet paper are usually a staple, but due to the shortage we can no longer provide these two items. There are some spices and olive oil kept in the kitchen. All kinds of cooking utensils, pots and pans! There is an ironing board/iron and front load washer and dryer. You will have to wash your towels and sheets (if desired) if you have an extended stay. There are curling/flat irons as well as hairdryer in the down stairs bathroom. Q-tips and cotton balls in each bathroom.

May I note long before the Coronavirus...between each guest all door knobs, toilet handles, faucets, handles to fridge, coffee pot handles, etc are cleaned with bleach wipes. We have been sanitizing the house since we offered it to Airbnb. I have bed bug mattress covers on each mattress. After many years as a registered nurse, it is important for me to hit the “germy” (is that a word?) areas with bleach as an extra precaution! In addition; counter tops and bathtubs/etc are all cleaned with bleach. We also keep the pillows washed and dried on high heat. All towels are bleached and dried on highest settings.

I use glade air fresheners. If you find those offensive, please unplug, but don’t lay somewhere where the oil will leak out onto floor or surface.
