The space
ABOUT CAMP HIKE-n-BIKE
The tiny cabin is inspired by 1940s Park Service cabins but with modern comforts and amenities, a rain showerhead, a brand new Allswell bed, full insulation with air conditioning (and heating for the cooler months).

The tiny cabin is new construction, built on the same property as our B&B (note our other listings on Airbnb). A garage sits between the tiny cabin and the main house on one side. There are trees/gardens on the other three sides. Beyond the trees are other neighborhood homes and a narrow, quiet street on one side.

During this period of COVID-19 concern, guests will be given self-entry instructions. The cabin is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between guest stays. You will not need to interact in person with either the hosts or any other guests.

Wifi and Echo Dot. A small TV monitor is available with an HDMI cable if you want to hook up your own streaming device.

Note that, it being a tiny cabin, we had room for only a 40-gallon water heater. If there are two of you staying, you may want to take quicker showers or allow a little time between showers so that the second person gets enough hot water.

We permit a third guest, including children, but please remember that this is a tiny cabin, and the sleeping configuration is one king or two twins. There is also a cot and sleeping bag on the screened porch that could be used on warmer nights.

Parking spaces are located in front of the main house. You will then need to walk around the house to the back of the property to access the tiny cabin. A barndoor style gate just next to the tiny cabin exits to a side street. It's convenient for access when walking or bicycling, but no parking is available near this gate.

We accept government rates! Please inquire if you are in town on government business.

Guest access
The tiny cabin sits on the property of Rockhaven B&B, a historic home originally owned by Storer College professor William A. Saunders and his wife Inez. (B&B suites are also available on Airbnb by these hosts.) You will have full access to the lush gardens on the property and outdoor seating around the property.

Other things to note
Check in time on Sundays may be delayed to 4 pm.

During the winter months, once temperatures regularly drop below freezing, we have to turn off the water out on the screened porch. You'll still have access to water in the bathroom sink and shower indoors.

Location

Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, United States

The tiny cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood in the Upper Town Harpers Ferry Historic District, away from the heavily touristed area and close to restaurants and a bar. Also, we're far enough away from the train tracks that the whistles are more of a distant wail. The property is visually private but is next to a side street. You may hear neighbors visiting with each other out in the street during the day.

Because we're in a small town, we like to stay friendly with our neighbors. We know you'll be respectful. Quiet hours (10 p.m. - 7 a.m.) will be strictly enforced and noise complaints from neighbors will result in a negative review for the rare inconsiderate guest.

We're close to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers, C&O Canal Trail, AT, Amtrak train station, Storer College, & Loudoun County wineries.

Check in on Sundays may be delayed until 4 pm.

The main residential section of the Town of Harpers Ferry (where our tiny cabin is located) is over half a mile up a fairly steep hill from the rivers and the National Historic Park area (and also the C & O Canal Towpath). Through-cyclists on the trail, especially, should be aware of the strenuous ride up.

There are NO surveillance cameras on the property.

We provide a map of walking routes to nearby views of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, as well as restaurant lists and info on local attractions.

In 2017 we got married in the gardens of a beautiful 1920s American Foursquare house in Harpers Ferry, WV, and made it our home. Six months later we began listing our entire-third-floor suite on Airbnb and discovered that we love hosting! That led to renovating some downstairs space into the now popular Studebaker Suite and our official status as a licensed B&B. In 2019 we expanded further by building a tiny cabin (Camp Hike-n-Bike) on the property and buying Knott Cabin near the Potomac River, just outside of Shepherdstown. We're working hard and having a blast! Creating beautiful spaces and unique lodging experiences for our guests turns out to be our true calling. We love Harpers Ferry and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. We both enjoy living in this small community and getting to know the friendly folks who live around us. We are also fascinated with the inspiring story of the former Storer College, which is up the hill a block away from us. Our 3-1/2 story home, which we have named Rockhaven, was built by Prof. William A. Saunders, and we continue to search for more information about him and his wife Inez -- as well as the home's second owner, Carrie Mae Dennis.
