Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Cozy guest house on a working farm located along the Sheep Creek Geological Loop in Ashley National Forest. Only minutes away from the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area with stream fishing, hiking, and bicycling opportunities within walking distance. This is the place for star gazers, outdoor adventurers, garden enthusiasts, and anyone looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle. Come away to experience life on a working farm. Follow us @theforbesfamilyfarm to see what’s happening!

The space
This is a small loft-style home in the center of a small family farm buzzing with life. It’s only 50 feet from the front door to the market gardens and orchard, where you’ll see seasonal fruits and vegetables growing in abundance. The crow of a rooster and quacking of ducks will greet you in the morning and you’ll enjoy the pleasure of watching food raised through regenerative farming practices. With just a little luck, you’ll watch Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep, deer and moose lay in the pasture alongside our domestic yaks and chickens. With an eye to the sky you’ll see hawks and eagles circling high above or ducks and cranes cruising along the creek.

This home can accommodate up to four people or a small family with one bedroom and an additional sleeping area in the loft. A full kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals and a small balcony facing Sheep Creek Canyon is the perfect spot to enjoy your breakfast as the sun beams down on the gardens.

At night you can relax around the outdoor fireplace under our covered pavilion, perfect for long chats and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Next to the guesthouse we have an outdoor grill set up complete with propane BBQ, griddle and burners, waiting for whatever culinary delights you wish to dine on. Head out for a day of fishing at Flaming Gorge or the Green River, and bring the catch back to cook for supper that night! Or ask us about the grass-fed and pasture-raised meats we have available right from the farm.

There are two designated parking spots alongside the home, but ample additional parking space available if you plan on bringing a boat to explore the Flaming Gorge or the numerous high mountain lakes of the Uinta Range.

Neighborhood highlights

Come to Sheep Creek to get away from it all. The closest town of Manila, Utah is 15 minutes away. A few low-key restaurants in town provide an opportunity for a casual meal, and a small community store has any essentials you may need. However, the nearest grocery store is over 1 hour away in any direction. There is also very limited cell phone service on the property. So, plan ahead and come prepared, this is your opportunity to disconnect from it all. You can explore the mountain trails of Ashley National Forest, take your boat out for a day on the Flaming Gorge, or simply take a cruise around the Sheep Creek Geological Loop. The great outdoors are right at your fingertips. Depending on the season, we'll have some of our garden produce for sale if you end up needing a few greens or tomatoes to spice up your dinner.

My work: The Forbes Family Farm
Lives in Manila, Utah
We're a family of five who left our business suits and the bustle of city life to farm and homestead in northeast Utah. We love fresh food, cooking, and exploring with our kids. We enjoy giving our guests a glimpse into the world of regenerative farming and sharing some of the beautiful scenery we get to enjoy in the hidden gem of Sheep Creek Canyon.
