A quiet island off Okinawa’s east coast, connected to the mainland by two bridges. According to Ryukyuan legend, Amamikyo and Shirumichu, the ancestral gods of the Ryukyus, first settled here. Sacred places remain, and a peaceful spirit still lingers. Swim before breakfast, or float in the sea at day’s end—just a minute’s walk away. One night only scratches the surface; a week lets the island unfold. The longer you stay, the lower your nightly rate.

The space
The interior has been thoughtfully renovated with reclaimed antique wood, creating a warm and refined atmosphere.

On the terrace, a hammock handwoven by the Mlabri people of northern Thailand invites you to slow down. Every step—from dyeing the threads to weaving the fabric—is done entirely by hand. Settle in, and let the island breeze do the rest.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, a rice cooker, and essential seasonings. We recommend visiting nearby markets to pick up fresh local vegetables and seafood, then preparing your own island-style meal.

Dinner – A5 Wagyu BBQ on the Terrace
¥6,000 per person (minimum 2 guests, reserve at least 1 week in advance)
In collaboration with Nikuya Shokudo in Henza, this BBQ features carefully selected A5 Wagyu beef and seasonal vegetables from our farm. Please bring your own drinks, rice, and any additional side dishes.

Dining options on Hamahiga Island are limited, so we recommend making reservations early.

Guest access
Your private guest space occupies the entire second floor and is accessed through its own private entrance and staircase.

The host family lives on the first floor. However, the house is built of reinforced concrete, providing excellent sound insulation so both guests and hosts can enjoy their own space in comfort. Your privacy is respected throughout your stay.

A house manual is provided on the table in your room. Please take a moment to read it after you arrive to help ensure a comfortable stay.

To preserve the peaceful island atmosphere, please keep noise to a minimum after 9 PM.
Smoking is not permitted indoors. Please use the terrace for smoking.

Hamahiga Island, Uruma. There is a myth that the Ryukyu gods, Silmikyo and Amamikyo, settled on this island, had children, and prospered, making the entire island a sacred site and power spot. Although it is a remote island, it is connected to the main island by two bridges, the Kaichu Road and Hamahiga Ohashi, making it accessible by car. You can see the morning sun to the east, the evening sun to the west, and the starry sky at night. The scenery of the old traditional village, which has become less common now, is also highly recommended.

There is a Lawson and a shop on the next island.
The Max Value in front of Kaichu Road (main island) is the nearest supermarket.
