Unbeatable location

More than a place to stay! Sunshine Bay Retreat is 24 supernatural acres of beauty on the shores of Kootenay Lake, about a half hour from Nelson. Sink into luxury linens and a memory foam mattress and enjoy starry nights. Unplug or stay connected with high-speed wifi, reliable cell. Hang out on the dock and 220' feet of private beach (down a path), take a kayak out to see the Eagle's nest. Bike to the bakery, visit organic gardens, or the meditation pond. And say hello to our 4 adorable llamas!

The space
The Lodge is 4000 square feet of flexibility, with lots of sleeping options: a private queen, a private double with an extra twin, a comfy queen pullout and 2 twin pullouts. There's a fabulous kitchen with everything you need, a large deck and BBQ, hammock, and 1500 square feet of eco-cork flooring for yoga or your personal dance party. High speed wifi make it a great place to fit in a few hours of work while watching deer graze. We offer Netflix and Disney+ streaming services.

Guest access
Guests have access to the path to the beach, the dock and water toys at the beach, as well as the organic gardens and peaceful meditation pond. There's plenty of on-site parking.

Other things to note
We don’t generally accept pets, and have made a few exceptions for non-shedding well behaved dogs. The path to the Beach has 12 steps, a slightly steep bit, crosses a RR track, and may not be suitable for those with physical impairments. We have 4 llamas on property and their lower pastures are protected with electric fencing from sunset to early mornings. We live in a rural area in close proximity to wildlife, both small and large. Along with extreme natural beauty, critters are a fact of life, so please don't be surprised if you see a spider, deer, mouse, or (in season) bear.
