The local area;

Sharksfin is so close to the beautiful harbour that you feel part of the village the moment you arrive in Mevagissey.

Perched above the harbour, the sights and sounds of gently bobbing boats, the cry of the gulls and the waves lapping the edge of the harbour can be heard from the balcony that overlooks the open sea beyond. The narrow, tiny lanes are lined with pretty cafes, gift and craft shops and local pubs that serve award winning ales and local food.

The sandy beaches and isolated coves dominate the coastline and provide a beautiful natural attraction. Many of the beaches in the immediate vicinity have interesting rock formations, the perfect excuse to go crabbing in the many rock pools.

Take the half hour ferry ride across the bay to Fowey with the possibility of spotting wildlife en route, or to fully appreciate the natural splendour of the area there is a virtually traffic free walking and cycling trail leading from Mevagissey to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The cycle trail can also be used to get to the village of Pentewan with its cosy pub and non-working harbour that has been transformed into a sanctuary for wildlife and large sandy beach.

South west of the village is the Roseland Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with golden sandy beaches, quaint villages, quiet lanes and coastal walks.

  • Everything was exactly how it was portrayed on the pictures and how it was described. Lovely house, lovely town, lovely weather!
    House was clean and big, perfect for 8 people (also for less people, of course).
    It will recommend it and might come back one day! Thank you!

  • Lovely situation in the harbour. Spacious flat with good kitchen and nice living room with views over the harbour. Mark is very helpful and friendly, quick response to questions.
    The little town is lovely! We had a delicious dinner at the Portuguese restaurant just next door, highly recommended.

    Thanks for our stay!

  • Sharksfin was absolutely magical. The apartment was spacious and clean--in a stunning, breathtaking harbour location. We had 7 people in our party and never felt cramped. Mevagissey is also an extraordinary village. We found the coastal walk (with three children)--over to the beach at Pentewan--to be a brilliant day's outing. Mark was also wonderful to communicate with--couldn't recommend the space more!

  • The location is amazing, right on the water and in the heart of the delightful village of Mevagissey and this place is great value, simply and comfortably furnished and with a lovely view out across the water.
    Mark was very easy to deal with and very helpful, the only tiny gripe would be that we found it a bit inconvenient to have to take along towels and bedding but that's not unusual for Airbnb. Oh and a word of warning - driving anywhere around there, including to the harbour car park is definitely a challenge (but that's probably true for all of Cornwall from our experience!)
