- No showers. Instead we have a hot flannel wash kit and fluffy towels in the Treehouse (along with a hot flannel wash guide, for those unfamiliar with washing in this way)
- No WIFI. There is great 4G signal though if you want to stream a movie on your phone/ tablet. Their are plug sockets in the Treehouse.

- No lighting to the Treehouse. This is because there are lots of owls and bats here and the lights make it hard for them to hunt. Eat carrots before arrival!

- BBQ (for use outside the treehouse only) - includes a bag of FSC sustainably produced charcoal. We will also clean the BBQ after you've used it which is included in the price. £16.

- Push bikes and helmets day hire. £10 each.

- Free range eggs from our hens, box of 6: £2
- Free range grass fed upland grazed BBQ meat grown on the farm. Price varies

We're a working farm that is not open to the public. It is not safe or permitted to wander about without a member of farm staff (sorry!). To see more of the farm you can book a farm experience via our website. Choose between:

- Working Sheepdog Demo: Meet the dogs, watch them working and learn about the history of the working dog from our most experienced handler - and of course - pats and cuddles at the end. 1 hour. £27.50pp.
- Eggcellent egg production eggsperience: Learn about how free range laying poultry are farmed. Collect the eggs with one of our farm hands, feed the birds and learn to use the egg grader to sort the eggs ready for sale. 45 mins. £10
- Goat meet and bleat: Meet our meat goat herd of #goatsonzoom fame - celebrity goats who have been on the BBC, ITV and in a load of national and international newspapers/ TV, made famous from joining zoom meetings through lockdown. We will tell you the tale of how goats on zoom became a thing, teach you about the Boer goat breed, feed them and enjoy some time in the pens with the goats. They're very affectionate and love a fuss and a stroke. 45 mins. £25.
- Beerilliant beehive tour: We will get you kitted up in a bee suit and take you to see our hives. You can see inside and learn about the basics of how we care for our honey bees. 1 hour. £30 per person.

Things to bring:

***HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE*** Coven Treehouse is just that - a treehouse - it is up a steep, uneven set of (sturdy) steps. There are slippery tree routes at the base of the tree. The wind makes the tree sway so the treehouse does too. Staying here requires some common sense and self risk assessment on your part. This is NOT a suitable venue for those who would not be able to exit the treehouse safely and quickly should there be a freak lightning storm or severe gales. Such events are extremely unlikely but guests booking this accommodation should not do so without a working smart phone which allows them to keep an eye on the weather forecast and vacate the accommodation should a lighting storm or high winds (35mph+) be predicted. DO NOT book this accommodation unless you know you are able to bring a working smartphone on which you will be able to get regular weather updates. This is for your own safety. Should guests have to vacate we have back up accommodation available should the need arise.

Coven Treehouse overlooks Alden valley with our free range hen house directly below. Fab sunrise and sunset views can be seen from the windows and when you lie in bed you can see where the sky meets the horizon and the branches of the trees. There's a bookcase with a fab selection of kids books, all the Harry Potters and a load of recent books from great authors. Its not a swap shelf so please leave our books on the shelf for others to enjoy after your stay. The treehouse is draft proofed and insulated and there is a small heater so it can be kept toasty warm and cosy in there easily.

Hello! Welcome to Cronkshaw Fold Farm, an hour North of Manchester, England. We (Dot - that's me - I run the farm, my small team of awesome farm staff and my retired parents - a farmer and a computer engineer) have a handful of unique, quirky accommodations here which are helping us earn additional revenue through having guests to stay. We are saving up for solar panels, a wind turbine, switching out diesel farm machinery for electric and converting our current farming practices to lower carbon alternatives. Every penny you spend here helps us reach these goals quicker, so thank you for considering us. Our aim is that guests here can have as low an environmental impact as possible when holidaying with us. From washing bed linens in eco-only detergents purchased from our local single use plastic free shops (of which we are lucky enough to have TWO!) to upcycling all the accommodation furniture, fixtures and fittings. We do everything we can think of to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We’re currently working on installing Tesla charging points for our guests so those with electric cars can easily charge on site, too. Choose from our Shepherd's Hut, The Old Farm Office, Coven Treehouse and Alden Woodland Yurt. We also have a spring water filtered hot tub that can be booked separately as can breakfast hampers, farm tours and more. Nosey at us online by searching 'Cronkshaw' if you want to find out more about our farm.

There will always be someone about on the farm to ask any questions you might have. My elderly retired farming parents live at the farm so with covid in mind - please do not attempt to find us/ knock on at the farm house as they are shielding. Give us a call and we will answer questions/come and meet you to resolve any queries. No question too small - we want you to have a fabulous time so do contact us any time, day or night if you need help with anything. We will rock up with a mask on if we need to come in your accomodation to help you for whatever reason.
