House - Private room · Lauren Ct, Newberg, OR 97132, United States

The Space

*Please note-We require a 2 night minimum on reservations. Occasionally we can accommodate a 1 night stay for an extra $15.

Large, custom built house in the heart of the Willamette Valley's wine country. Private upstairs area with 3 furnished bedrooms, full bathroom, and a bonus room/ TV sitting area with Netflix. $65 for the room of your choice. 2 bedrooms have queen beds and the 3rd has a full.If your party requires more than 1 bedroom, the additional rooms can be rented at the reduced cost of $48 room. All rooms will share a full bathroom with double sinks and shower/bathtub. A hair dryer is available for use. The entire 2nd floor of our house is your private rental. Only guests from your party will be occupying the upstairs space. We will not be renting to multiple parties during your stay.

The upstairs access is immediately through our front door so there is no concern for entering our family space for your "coming and going". This arrangement works well for travelers coming in late at night or events that may keep you out into the evening hours.

An extra fridge is available if you have food that needs cold storage. Pantry space is also an option if needed.

Each morning we will set up for you a pot of Caravan Coffee, granola, and milk. Breakfast is self serve.

Driveway parking. Steps away from the front door entrance.

We are pet owners with 2 very friendly Golden Retrievers- one older and calm, the other an "energetic youngster." We also have a (majority outside) kitty as well. There are 6 hens in the backyard and depending on the season- a garden, firepit, and barbecue.

We are conveniently within walking distance to Old Town Newberg with tasting rooms, eateries, and specialty shops. George Fox University is a short 10 min. walk to campus. We have a bicycle (1) that you are welcome to borrow if desired.

We do our best to recycle and compost,
We remove our shoes in the house to keep floors and carpet free of dirt.

I enjoy ironing (really- not kidding) so most likely your sheets and linens will be freshly ironed and wrinkle-free.

Our decor is a varied style of vintage, handcrafted, original furnishings and artwork.

We understand from experience how difficult it can be to find affordable accommodations when traveling. We hope to offer you a great value, a welcoming environment, and hopefully make some new friends in the process.

We have a teen daughter and love sharing our space with children as well. There is a nice park for playing and walking within a block of our house. I would describe our family as- kind, considerate, friendly, peaceful and casual.

**** If this is your first reservation on Airbnb:
• Please tell me a little bit about yourself when you make a reservation or inquiry - where you're coming from, if your group is family/friends, etc. It is important to us to be able to greet you by name and know you a bit prior to arrival at our home.
* Airbnb doesn't have pricing categories built-in for specifics (extra rooms, beds) so I may need to adjust the reservation price for your stay. You will need to accept the price difference after I submit a reservation modification. Very easy.
• I don't have access to your contact info, and I can't pass you mine until you make your reservation.
• Let me know if you have questions about anything at all: about me, my home or Airbnb in general.

  • Krista & Pete were so wonderful! Their home is so lovely, and their "little Newburg" is a gorgeous place to spend some time visiting :)

  • My friend and I each felt the need to write a review since we both enjoyed our experience with Krista, Pete, and Sarah.

Ladies first: April 2014. This was my first visit to the Oregon Wine Country with a good friend and we could not have had a more comfortable, friendly and warm place to stay. Krista and Pete were extremely welcoming and their hospitality was wonderful. Waking up in the morning and starting our day with wonderful and locally brewed coffee and homemade granola with yogurt was amazing. Our accommodations upstairs were very comfortable, private and clean. We enjoyed having the common area upstairs to wind down from a productive busy day while watching Netflix and enjoying a glass of wine. Krista and Pete offered many suggestions of great wineries, breweries and local places to eat. We really enjoyed chatting with them in the mornings and sharing our adventures from the day. I appreciate the more personal experience and getting to know new people when traveling and Krista and Pete were wonderful! I plan on visiting again in the future and would not pass up the opportunity to stay at Krista and Pete’s!

Mine second: I have just so many great things to say about the experience my friend and I enjoyed by staying with Krista, Pete, and Sarah (their daughter). It’s people like them that make AirBnB successful for sure. We were greeted to such a warm and informative welcoming. Krista leaves no stone unturned to ensure you have everything you’ll need (and more) while visiting. Their house is in a great area of town, their home is immaculately clean, and there was so much room that we literally had a little “home-away” to ourselves upstairs. In the morning we were greeted with warm smiles, hot and delicious coffee (roasted by Pete), and homemade granola prepared by Krista. We felt like friends in their home, rather than customers and really enjoyed getting to know the three of them and the experienced they created for us in Newberg. When visiting Newberg in the future they will be my first choice without a doubt. Cheers and a big thanks to Krista, Pete, and Sarah for making our Oregon experience so delightful.

    Response from Krista:

Many thanks for the lovely bottle of wine. What a kind and generous gift! It was a true pleasure to host and get to know the both of you. Thank you Brian and Lindsay!

  • We spent 3 nights in March at Krista's home and highly recommend her place. It's a super clean, modern, and friendly place to stay. With the separate upstairs only for guests, your privacy is assured. Krista provided a lovely, simple breakfast daily, even offering some special touches. She has lots of information available for activities to do in the area. A wonderful place!

  • What a lovely little town and warm welcoming stay we experienced. Krista and Pete are kind hosts and provided hospitality that made our trip to Oregon a great experience. Pete's coffee was amazing and the sleeping accomodations perfect. This home is a treasure and we hope to return again soon.

  • Krista and Peter are wonderful hosts! The upstairs setup for guests is very comfortable, quiet and private. We were there for an event at George Fox and this was a great location, just a 5 min drive or so. The coffee, oatmeal and yogurt were tasty in the morning. We would highly recommend that you consider staying here!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Krista, Pete, and Sarah. They are kind and generous hosts and I hope we'll have the opportunity to stay with them again in the future.

The rooms are well-appointed and the house layout makes the upstairs a private suite. As others have noted, Pete's coffee is a treat in the morning and if you have time, it's worth a trip to Caravan Coffee for a peek at their roasting facility and a(nother) great cup of coffee.

This was my first airbnb experience - I hope the rest are just as good!

  • Lucky us! We found the perfect place to stay in Newberg! We were welcomed the minute we drove into the driveway by our hosts, Krista and Pete. I was a bit nervous, but their kindness and words of welcome quickly reassured me. We quickly settled in to the whole of upstairs and then shared a glass of wine while we learned all about Newberg and surrounds. We had come to look at the small towns around there to look for a place to live near Portland. Krista and Pete put a human face on Newberg. Although we explored many small towns in the surrounding area, we are now seriously considering Newberg as a potential new home. You cannot go wrong by choosing to stay with Krista and Pete! And oh yeah, the accommodations are also without fault!

    Response from Krista:

Many thanks for the delicious gift box you left us. The cheese, sausage and nuts were a scrumptious treat. You are both so kind and generous!

  • We had a lovely stay with Krista and Pete. They are very welcoming and accommodating hosts, who have a very beautiful house in a great little town.
The art alone in their house was enough to keep you occupied, but there is also the most coveted children's library I've seen in a private home.
All our beds were very comfortable, the TV room was a very nice bonus, and we couldn't have been better taken care of. Thanks, Krista and Pete!

  • Just wanted to say what a truly wonder full time we had staying at Pete and Krista's place for a few days in early Dec. Such beautiful and conscientious accommodations, and such genuinely welcoming owners! We can't recommend them highly enough. We're definitely planning to take advantage of their fine accommodations in the future.

About
Pete is a small business owner as an Artisan Coffee Roaster in Newberg called Caravan Coffee. He sources quality coffee from all over the world, and distributes to coffee shops and directly to consumers. We love to promote social projects in the communities we buy beans from and have traveled to several countries to visit the farms and build relationships with our coffee producers. We have traveled to Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. Pete is active in our local community by being involved in Rotary, Newberg Downtown Coalition, and Chamber of Commerce. Our family hosted foreign exchange students (both High school and college age) for 10 years. We are very comfortable sharing our home with others and hope that you feel comfortable and welcome as well. I (Krista) was raised in this local community of Newberg on a small hazelnut, family farm with childhood memories of riding my horse through Downtown Newberg. Through the years I have witnessed this tiny, unknown town evolve into the famous wine hub of today. I am a homemaker and enjoy baking, farmer's markets, bookstores, gardening, antiques and reading. We recently joined a ballroom dance club and our newest endeavor is to learn some new dances. You may witness our "practice sessions" as we dance through the living room, attempting to master some new moves. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our beautiful Wine Country!
